I believe that they don't understand that I am unemployed and I live on my bank accountI can not pay them no matter whatIf I pay them I will officially end up homeless along with my daughter

My judgment was satisfied a month ago and I still cannot get a letter of satisfaction from them to file with my court. They give me the run around every time I speak with them. Terrible law firm and just like to play games!

We acknowledge the consumer’s concern regarding prior telephone
calls. We have placed a Cease & Desist hold on the account in our office,
meaning that we will refrain from contacting the consumer via telephone or
mail. Because a court case is still pending, the firm is however required to
send the consumer copies of pleadings filed with the court.

While we acknowledge that the consumer may not have the means to
pay at this time, it does not prohibit the firm from seeking a money judgment on behalf of our client.

The Kohn Law Firm has reviewed all calls made to the consumer. The firm has
placed 12 calls to the consumer over the last 2 months. During a call between the consumer and a legal assistant at the firm on November 12, 2014, the consumer
agreed to a settlement arrangement. However, she...

then indicated during a call
one week later on November 19, 2014 that she changed her mind. The firm has not
placed any calls the consumer since November 19th.

The recent mailing the consumer indicated she received was a copy
of a pleading filed with the court. The firm is required under Wisconsin
Supreme Court rules to send a copy of all pleadings in the pending court case
to the consumer. The firm is entitled to pursue a money judgment on this case on
behalf of its client in order to preserve potential future collection options.
The firm also remains willing to work with the consumer towards voluntary
payments on this debt if she is willing or able to do so.

Review: They have harassed me on the phone and via mail day and night for a while. I have taken out all my money in CD's. I have told them more than once I cannot pay their amount for the debt but they pushed the issue to the max. They even called me on the day of my mother's funeral and I told them that I was going to pull everything out then. I just received another communication in the mail. I want this issue dropped. I cannot afford to pay the debt at all since I am unemployed at this time.Desired Settlement: I would like them to stop contacting me and for them to drop the suit against me as well.

Review: Contacted company on 9/3/2014 to make arrangement to pay debt of $916. Spoke with [redacted]. He wanted to verify if my address info was correct, which I indicated it was. He then asked me information regarding my marriage date. When I asked him how it was relevant to payment arrangements, he indicated he needed it for financial info. I advised him he did not and wanted to proceed with payment arrangements. Also advised him I had not been asked that info before, as I had arrangements with them late last year. He would not move forward from the info. I asked him if he was not willing to make payment arrangements with me because I was not willing to provide my wedding date, as I did not see the significance. I also advised him anything he had on record from Oct 2013, had not changed. He would not move forward from the question and arrangements were not made.Desired Settlement: I would like to make the payment arrangements I called to make without providing information not relevant to the payment arrangements.

Response:

Ms. [redacted] was under Court order to appear for a supplementary examination on Thursday, September 4, 2014, to determine her financial status. She failed to appear as ordered by the court. She is now potentially in contempt of a court order.

When Ms. [redacted] called in to our office on September 3, 2014, she was asked the questions that the court hearing official would have asked today. This was an attempt to better service her, to obtain the information and negate her need to appear for this court appearance today. She refused the information and failed to appear today. She was told on the recorded call that she could pay what she wanted, but we were unable to cancel the court appearance without the information.

Wisconsin is a marital property state. A determination of marital assets is part of the court order to determine assets. She has a judgment that remains unpaid. She failed to make her previously agreed to payments in May, June, July and August.

Full payment of her remaining balance could purge her potential contempt hearing that could be scheduled. We would like to resolve her debt without that next court step.

Review: Kohn Law Firm has repeatedly sent letters to a "[redacted]," who they believe lives at my address. I've called, emailed, sent letters, and no matter what I try they will not stop sending collection notices to my house. I don't know [redacted] A [redacted]. He does not and has not ever lived at this address or been known to me in any way whatsoever. I am feeling harassed and threatened by this firm's persistent letters, and they have no grounds on which to accuse me. Simply because I share the same last name as someone in collections, that does not tie me to this person.Desired Settlement: As I've repeatedly told the firm in phone conversations, email, and paper letters, my only wish is that they stop contacting me. If they cannot provide any evidence as to why they think this is my debt, I demand that they cease all communication with me. I've been very civil in dealing with them. Contacting the Revdex.com is step 2. Step 3 is a lawsuit against this firm.

Response:

Kohn Law Firm S.C. has searched its electronic and telephone records. All telephone calls at the firm are recorded. The firm finds no calls made to any [redacted], with the last known number on our [redacted] file removed in 2012.

Mr. [redacted] made a request for documents pertaining to [redacted]. As he is not a party to the matter, by law, we cannot disclose this information to a third party.

The US Postal Service verified the address of a [redacted] at the address Mr. [redacted] is stating he knows no one at that address. We have sent mail to Mr. [redacted] at that listed address. The only way Mr. [redacted] would know this is a debt collection matter, is by opening U.S. Mail that was not addressed to him by name.

At this time, we have removed the address from our records. Again, we find no communications from Mr. [redacted] to this office to cease any communication to the U.S. Postal service verified address of Mr. [redacted]. We have no email communications or telephone calls.

At Kohn Law Firm, we prefer to work with consumers to resolve issues. We believe the removal of the address from our records will resolve Mr. [redacted]'s concern, as we have no claim with him at this time. Should the U.S. Postal Service again verify Mr. [redacted]'s correct mailing address, we may resume our actions representing our client. [redacted], Director of Operations

[A default letter is provided here which indicates your acceptance of the business's response. If you wish, you may update it before sending it.]

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. Assuming that Kohn Law Firm never again tries to contact my residence by phone or mail, I'm sure we won't have any more problems. Also, for the record, I find it laughable that a Collections firm tried to lecture me on the ethics of opening mail that has my surname and address on the envelope.

Review: THEY TAKE MONEY FROM A PERSON WITH THE SAME LAST NAME FOR SOMEONE ELSE'S DEBITS. THEY GIVE BACK MONEY THAT IS NOT THEIRS TO GIVE BACK. I WAS IN A CHAPTER 13 BANKRUPTCY AND WHEN MY LAWYER TOLD THEM TO STOP COLLECTING MONEY FROM ME, THEY TURNED AROUND AND GAVE ALL THE PAYMENTS I HAD MADE PRIOR, BACK TO ME, WITHOUT BEING ASKED OR WITHOUT ANYTHING IN WRITING. THIS STUPENDOUS ERROR IN JUDGEMENT COST ME [redacted] PLUS AND ALMOST COST ME MY HOME TOO.Desired Settlement: THEY SHOULDN'T HAVE GIVEN ME THE MONEY, THE CITY DIDN'T REVISE THEIR CLAIM AND BECAUSE OF ALL OF THAT, MY HOME WAS IN JEOPARDY OF BEING TAKEN AWAY.

I HAD TO TAKE OUT A LON TO PAY THESE EXPENSES BECAUSE THEY DID NOT DO THEIR JOB BY REQUIRING SOMETHING IN WRITING. THEY ARE THE FIRM FOR THE CITY OD MILWAUKEE, AND THEY ARE RUTHLESS, AND DON'T KNOW HOW TO RESEARCH CORRECTLY. I WANT THEM TO PULL THEIR HEADS OUT OF THEIR BUTS AND WAKE UP TO THE REALITY OF THE REAL WORLD, NOT THEIR LITTLE CULT WITH THE CITY.

Response:

The Kohn Law Firm S.C. was retained to collect [redacted] 2008 delinquent City of Milwaukee property taxes. Ms. Junck made $[redacted] in voluntary payments towards those taxes in 2010. We then received notice that Ms. [redacted] had filed a Chapter 13 federal bankruptcy petition and her attorney issued a preference demand for a refund of the voluntary payments. By law, our office was required to refund the $[redacted] in payments. We then closed the file in our office. A review of our account records shows that all payments were properly credited and that Ms. Junck received and accepted the $[redacted] refund check. The account remains closed in our office and Ms. Junck was recently able to discuss a resolution to the outstanding tax debt with the City of Milwaukee directly. Started working with Kohn Law Firm on a debt in March 2014. In May 2014, they called me and told me my payment agreement was not good enough that I should set a higher payment amount to get the debt paid off sooner. I said I would stick with what I was paying and ended the call. In December 2014, they decided to start a lawsuit against myself and my son. We each had to hire our own attorney to represent us. After several months of the two attorneys asking for the Master List of loans transferred to the National Collegiate Trust; Interrogatories; phone conferences; and etc., nothing was ever received. Attorney [redacted] of KLF filed a motion to dismiss and the case was dismissed.
As of January 2015 I had paid Kohn Law Firm $2925.00 on this loan. The last few months I have been attempting to get my money back, since there was absolutely no proof showing exactly who owned the loan. The only thing submitted was a copy of the Pool Agreement, and conveniently they never included Schedule 2 of the agreement, the Master List, which would show if my son's name was on it. I filed a complaint with the Federal Trade commission and in Attorney [redacted] answer, he stated that the "parties negotiated a settlement". This is a lie. Everyone knows that attorneys charge for all of their time and having worked in a legal office, I know that they charge for every 6 minutes. I checked my billing statement and my son's billing statement from our attorneys. We must be the only people in America that received a free negotiating session from our attorneys. The dude lied to the Feds!!!! I still want my money back since it was received by Kohn Law Firm under false and misleading representation on their part. I would never do any type of business with this firm. Kohn Law Firm is a prime example why many people feel attorneys are crooked.

Review: Was under agreement that I would send 158 a month. My unemployment ran out and I told them I couldn't pay and once I was working I would pay again. I called and said I could send 100 dollars I was told that wasn't good enough. I called again and said I could send 100 dollars was told that wasn't good enough. I was than told they needed 500 before I could make a payment. I feel like I got tricked into not sending any money so they could garnish my wages. They said that's what they are now trying to do.Desired Settlement: I would like to once again set up a payment plan of 158 a month and resolve my debt, without having to pay 500 before they will take a payment. I also would like somebody else in the company to handle my account because I was lied to and tricked into not paying.

Response:

This amount owed arises out of an accident claim and is not a consumer debt of any kind.

Pursuant to s.344.14(2)(h), 344.18(1)(c) Wis Stats., Kohn Law Firm on 5/21/13, we reached a payment agreement for Mr. [redacted] to make a down payment of $780 and continue with monthly payments of $158 per month until the balance was paid in full. This installment agreement (http://www.dot.state.wi.us/drivers/forms/mv3128.pdf) was completed and signed as a State of Wisconsin Motor Vehicle Installment Agreement which allowed Mr. [redacted] to retain his driver’s license a long as he paid pursuant to the document, and pursuant to the Wisconsin statutes that applied. He made his payments through February, 2014.

On 3/28/2014, we spoke with Mr. [redacted] who stated his unemployment ran out and wouldn’t be able to make a payment in March. We spoke with him again on 4/7/14, when he indicated he would be able to make a payment by the end of April. No payment was received in April or May. We spoke with Mr. [redacted] on 6/6/14, where he was offered arrangements that would have brought his installment agreement current, which is required to retain his driver’s license. He indicated that he could only pay $100 per month because he was working only 25 hours per week. His employer verified that he was working full time. He was asked to provide proof of his income to consider lower payments, but Mr. [redacted] would not agree to provide that information. As allowed by law, the DMV Installment Agreement was revoked for failure to meet the agreed upon terms.

On 7/18/2014, having made numerous efforts to voluntarily resolve the delinquent arrangements, having received no payments since February, and no proof of income, a wage garnishment was issued in the proper court of record. These matters are being determined in a court of law, pursuant to Wisconsin Statutes. A judge or other court official will be determining the results during a court hearing when scheduled.

Don't beleieve their website and the aronious claims that they treat their clients and or customers with respect. I have received numerous phone calls on my cellphone while I am at work only for them to leave a 2 second voicemail of them hanging up. I also have receieved numerous repeat calls at all hours of the day and night again with no voicemail being left. I have called the number back only to be greeted with Law Office, and when I ask what law office I am hung up on. These people are very low and if you ever setup a payment arrangement with them be prepared to have them try to make you increase your payment amount.

Review: I paid in full a debt to this law firm/collection agency about a year ago. It is still listed on my credit report as unpaid. I spoke to someone about this and they told me the firm mailed a piece of paper to give to a the court but I never received this paper. Plus this debt is also on my son's father credit report. This place seem to think they are going to continue to get paid for a debt I have already paid out.Desired Settlement: I will like this paid debt removed as soon as possible.

Response:

I am the firm’s Compliance Attorney and have reviewed Ms. [redacted]’s complaint. Ms. [redacted]’s account was paid in full through our office in 2014. On April 11, 2014, we sent Ms. [redacted] a Satisfaction of Judgment for her to file with the court to show that the debt was satisfied. We did not receive mail return of this document. Our firm does not report to credit bureaus and is unable to address Ms. [redacted]’s concerns regarding the status of the debt on her credit report. At this point, we are willing to provide a duplicate Satisfaction of Judgment free of charge. We would ask Ms. [redacted] to contact our office to discuss this issue. I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Regards,

Even though I am exempt from garnishments which was also recorded with the stgate of wi due to income, these guys keep harrassing me for payment even after it was basically dismissed due to my income and being on public assistance, I am NOT working you cant do squat esp since I am on Public Assistance which makes me exept from your collection methods, keep it up if I find word I will file bankruptcy and file a complaint with state bar of wi and possibly sue you for harrassment.

I would never, ever recommend using Kohn Law Firm. The representatives are incredibly rude and are not willing to work with their customers. I was treated with extreme disrespect.
