Review: Booked this campsite online March 13 2013 for a trip in September, mid May received email stating that this was no long a KOA site and that if we chose to stay here anyways our deposit would be honored in the amount of $55.79 Began attempting to cancel reservation. Phone line disconnected attempted to send email no response. When we did get a hold of someone at KOA we were advised that the campsites are all individually owned and the owner of this site has pretty much ran off with everyone's money. KOA offered us gift certs for the amount but we will not be camping again this year and feel that its just a loss of $55.00Desired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Refund
Full refund without the refund fee of 10.00 for the hassle we had to go through to receive our money back.

Response:
[redacted] called in on 9/4/13 and was agreeable to the KOA gift certificates. [redacted] was sent $55 in KOA gift certificates on Sept. 6, 2013. In the letter I sent with the gift certificates it does state that the certificates are good for 2 years, and if they are not used by then, we will issue them to the camper. Below is a copy of the letter sent to the camper.

Dear [redacted],
Thank for your feedback in regarding your deposit at the Westport Beach RV campground.
Unfortunately since this campground is no longer a KOA and subject to our national refund policies we do not have any influence on the return of your deposit.
I have enclosed $55 in KOA gift certificates that are valid for two years at any KOA campground in the US and Canada. If you are not able to use these certificates within the two years, please send them back to us and we will be happy to reissue new certificates.
I do sincerely apologize for any inconvenience that was caused to you and want to thank you for being a loyal KOA camper.
Once again, thank you for sharing your concerns with me and I do hope that you enjoy visiting our KOA campgrounds. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please feel free to let me know. I will await your reply.
Sincerely,
Guest Services-KOA Home Office
