asked if I could fix a hole in the foundation while I was thereI said yes, which I did fixI never met *** ***; was never given a specWe did not sign a contractThe ***'s did not give me a depositThis was such a small job | purchased the material and did the work in one dayWhen I finish the job, *** *** inspected the work and said if looked good and wrote me a check.| received a call weeks later from *** *** complaining about the $over the original price discussed, and that the wood was splittingAnyone who has had a wood deck, knows that when wood dries out, there is a possibility for the wood to splitThis is out of my control*** ***'s dog had chewed on some of the wood and she wanted to know if that wood could hurt her dogI told her that treated lumber is not treated the same way as years ago but I did not know for sure if it would affect her dog.When I knew *** *** was not satisfied, I returned to the job to replace the wood that was cracked, I tried to dress it up a little moreI also left a $check for the extra I had charged for fixing the hole under the steps (which I fixed because her husband asked me to)At this point I only knew *** *** as “Kelly", which is her first nameI wrote the check out to **And *** *** (leaving a black space for her to write her last name.A day later received the letter *** *** wrote to the Revdex.com and *** *** called and said she was not happy and wanted her money back and that her husband could have done a better jobI admit took offense because I knew then that I could not satisfy herI then got a call from *** *** and was informed he wanted to sell the house and that he wanted to spruce up the railingI told him I would met himWe set up a date and timeHe called me hours before the time we agreed to meet and he said he had someone else to fix it.Sincerely,Aubrey *K*** Knott's Construction

I am rejecting this response because: MrKnott was unwilling to do much more with our deck per his own conversation with me. He stated that since I am dealing with the Revdex.com that he no longer wants to deal with me. My husband did speak with him after that and stated that the whole deck is not going to pass inspection because it was not "up to code". MrKnott then claimed that if he knew we were selling the house he would have made sure it was up to code. He told my husband he would come out and look to see what he could do to get it up to code. After having it inspected by another contractor, we learned that there was no way to use the previous deck built by MrKnott to get it to pass inspection without tearing it down and starting over with "code standard" material. At this point I told my husband to cancel the appointment with MrKnott (the day before he was to arrive, not hours before as he stated) because he was obviously not going to be able to fix what was already standing. We have since had the deck torn down and rebuilt to MD code standardsI believe since MrKnott was negligent in building a deck that was usable, that he should return our money. We had to spend more than originally planned due to adding the cost of removing the deck that MrKnott poorly built
