I tried to convey that the $91.00 was a debit hold put on the card by the banking institutions, and the gas companies. That this is a commonplace practice by all gas stations throughout...

the United States, and that we have no control in the matter and that the money was never taken out of his account, that it was momentarily put on hold for a period of 2-3 business days. I apologized for the inconvenience that it caused, and informed [redacted] that in the future if he would only choose the credit option on his card, and not the debit option, the hold will never be put on his card.The reason for the banking hold is twofold; first, to make sure the funds being pumped into the tank are available, and second, for security reasons to make sure that someone at the pump cannot sit out and swipe the card repeatedly filing various vehicles in the event the card was stolen.While I regret that this event happened, it does happen every day throughout the United States, at all gas stations.
