My mothers oil furnace was acting up for over a month leaving a very strong diesel smell in her house. After calling 3 popular companies (each of which informed us that there is no health risk) the only information we given was in the form of a brochure showing new furnaces, as well as the cost. The cost was overwhelming and I decided to go outside of the top 3 companies and called Kingsway Heating Service. I spoke with Brad who was able to provide a thorough diagnostic over the phone and after mentioning the diesel smell, the conversation turned from furnace support to true concern about our well-being. He made a priority to drop by the house the following day to look at the situation. He informed me that, yes we would need a furnace but explained WHY (and showed the faulty area(s)) as well, he mentioned that we do did not need the top of the line furnace but simply a furnace capable of heating the square footage of the house. I agreed to a new furnace and he let me know that the install could take a few hours. 2 days later he arrived with our new furnace (1/2 the size of the other and far more efficient) and in a couple hours the old furnace was removed and the new one was installed. They had cleaned the area of any dirt and debris and after the install, they took the time to explain the 5 W`s of the furnace.
They were very approachable, understanding, sympathetic, knowledgeable and most importantly - professional. Stepping away from the comfort of going with a "big name" company actually turned out to be the best decision and it resulted in actual comfort.
