I have ordered a number of keys from the KeyMe kiosk at Bed, Bath and Beyond in Glendale, AZ, and recently ordered four car key duplicates. About two weeks ago, I got into my car with one of those keys and then could not get it out of the ignition. I called KeyMe customer service and the customer service rep suggested I call one of their recommended locksmiths. I asked how the charge would be handled, and he didn't know, but he suggested that I go ahead and get the locksmith and then call the next day to find out about reimbursement.
Having no other choice, with the car running or the battery draining when the motor was turned off, I called the locksmith. He came out promptly, took about a half hour to remove the key and showed me how the three keys were inaccurately cut, comparing it to the new one he had cut for me and showing me the discrepancies of all three new keys. He charged me $204.
Next day, called customer service to find out about how I would be reimbursed and again, customer service rep seemed confused and said she would make out a form and send to "Corporate" and they would call me within 48 hours. I knew then I was in trouble and it's about twelve days later, no call.
So I will spend however long it takes today to find out how to get reimbursed for this. The keys cost $90 (oh and the kiosk really encourages you to make extra keys!). So I'm about $300 out.
Went to Menards to get a couple keys copied. They directed me to the KeyMe kiosk. Went through the procedure and the machine told me the keys would have to be mailed to me because they were "uncommon". They're not. One is a common Schlage and the other a common Pella. This is convenience? I should have just gone down to my neighborhood Ace.

Review: Keyme is not just a store front. They have an iPhone app which allows you get a duplicate key by means of a photo. They claim it is a secure way to get a copy. But how do they confirm that the party making a copy request is the orginal owner of the key? On Friday, Feb. **, 2015, I had someone gain entry to my house with a key they revealed they got with the Keyme app.
I am horrified. We have to deal with cyber security and now we a service provider which will make keys for anyone without confirmation of ownership.Desired Settlement: Discontinue provision of this application.
