To Whom It May Concern:
I have reviewed this claim and the policyholder’s complaintInitially, this vehicle was
taken to a VW dealership that does not have a body repair shop so the owner and/or
dealership had it moved to a body repair shopSince the vehicle was located at a
shop out
of state, our staff adjuster hired an independent auto damage appraiser in
that area to inspect the vehicle and prepare an itemized estimateAs soon as we
received the estimate, we issued payment less the policyholder’s $deductibleOf note, the estimate did NOT include any used parts for this vehicleIt did include
several after-market parts, most of which were CAPA certified with a lifetime
guaranteeThis is not an unusual situation for a vehicle of similar age and mileage and
it is provided for in the insurance policy contractNeither the body shop nor the
dealership communicated any problems with the estimate or the partsOn a few occasions, we have been informed of either an issue with a part or of
additional damage foundWe have paid the supplement that we received for these
additional items and repairsEvery time that we have been informed of any issues or
additional damages, the adjuster has approved what was necessary to keep the repair
process movingWe have now paid $4,for repairs to the vehicle and the
policyholder will owe his $deductibleWhile I certainly understand the inconvenience to the policyholder, I do not believe
that the length of the repair time has been due to the adjuster not paying the
appropriate claims nor do I believe that it is the fault of any particular other entityUnfortunately, vehicles with extensive damages can sometimes take quite a long time
to be repaired and it appears that is what has happened in this caseThe policyholder
agreed to have a $deductible on his collision coverage and I cannot waive that
requirementIn regards to his wage loss, the policyholder purchased a Personal
Automobile Policy that he was using for a commercial purpose, driving for a taxi
serviceUnfortunately, there is no coverage on his policy for his income lossHe has
coverage up to a specified limit to pay for rental expenses so that he has
transportationI do not see anything further that we can pay at this timeRespectfully,
