My husband has a severe allergy to poultry and eggs. We selected Ken's Steak House Chunky Blue Cheese dressing at our local grocery market because the label listed no such ingredients. We thought it was safe. My husband tried the dressing and had an extreme allergy attack. The attack was life threatening. He has made a full recovery. I contacted Ken's and after a lot of back and fourth with different people within the company, they begrudgingly offered to test the product. I asked for documentation of the type of tests they performed and they refused to give me any details whatsoever. I have copies of every correspondence that I have with the company and I do not believe they looked into the issue at all. I believe they just told me they did to quiet me down. They have resorted to completely ignoring my emails and phone calls now.
A consumer contacted us stating that her husband has an egg allergy. He tried our Ken’s Blue Cheese Dressing, because it does not contain eggs.
The consumer stated that her husband had a reaction to this dressing.
We are very sorry for the reaction her husband experienced. We inquired as to his condition and she stated that he was now fine and did not seek medical assistance.
We explained this dressing does not contain eggs and that our food safety programs assure compliance to the FDA allergy guidelines.
The consumer gave us the lot code so we could further investigate this serious complaint. We shared these findings with the consumer.
The consumer then requested that we test the dressing. The consumer submitted the bottle to us for testing. Upon receipt, the bottle was partially full.
A sample from this partial bottle went through a number of tests and the results showed that it was in conformance to the expected formulation of our blue cheese dressing.
This information was also shared with the consumer.
The consumer insisted she receive a copy of these lab results. We explained that these documents are proprietary and we could not share them.
This complaint was taken very seriously. We investigated immediately and verified our programs were followed. Testing of the returned product confirmed
The product was made and labeled correctly.
Although we did not find a problem with our Ken’s Blue Cheese Dressing, we are truly sorry for the reaction her husband experienced.
