Review: I met with [redacted] and discussed the building of a Log Home in Lenox Township, Pa. back on July **, 2013. Several days later he gave me his cost to build, I asked him to send me a written contract, stipulating the work to be done, start and finish date and written in that the cabin would be built to the manufacturers specifications, as well as the agreed cost. After repeated requests, I never received the contract. On Jan. **, 2014 I told him again if he wanted the job I needed a contract. He said he wanted $3,800.00 to reserve the time on his calendar to build my home, he told me to send him the check and he would send me a contract, stipulating the work to be done, start and finish date and that the cabin would be built to the manufacturers specifications as well as the agreed cost as I requested. I sent the check but never received the contract, nor did I receive the other documents from him that were vital to acquiring a building permit. [redacted] knew the ship date of the log home was March **, 2014. I had asked him on many occasions to provide me with the documents I needed. Each time he gave me a date which he failed to meet. I called [redacted] several times around the end of February after he failed again to meet his obligation. All calls went to voicemail where I left messages which he ignored. I was now urgently looking for other log home builders. That's when I found out that, not only had [redacted] put the entire job in jeopardy but his fee of $32.00 per SF was 60% over the industry average of $20.00 per SF. [redacted] returned my calls on March **, 2014 and again gave me the excuse that he had been busy and gave me another date. I told him he's placed the entire job in jeopardy and that I no longer needed his services. I told him I would pay him a day and a halfs wages for his time and to return the balance to me. [redacted] has not returned the money nor is he answering my calls or responding to my voice mails.Desired Settlement: My initial meeting with [redacted] was for a free estimate, so no money owed for that day. I called the second meeting on the job site with all of the [redacted], so I'm willing to pay his wages for that day, as it was a 3 hour round trip for him and he was there for about 2 hours. I'm also willing to pay gas and tolls as well as an additional half days wage for time spent on the phone throughout the 8 month period. Not knowing what he makes per day, I think $800.00 would be a generous amount.
