Took my car into Kennedy Transmission on 9-13-18 to have the fluids changed and the filter replaced. The guy asked me if it was doing anything. I said no. So he took it for a drive down the street. He then parks into the garage. So I left came back and asked if there was anything wrong with my transmission since it hadn't been serviced since I got the vehicle. He said it was fine. This morning I had to go into Minneapolis for my appointments. Got to Monticello and the car started to jerk when I was on the Highway. So I took it to the next city in Albertvillle to have it looked at. They couldn't look at the car . So I took the back roads back into St cloud to Kennedy's transmission. I told the man about my problem and he said it was nothing on there end. So he takes my keys starts opening up the hood to run some test on the engine. Comes back in the shop and gets a fuse and then tells me the check engine light was then he said the check gauges light was on. Then he tries to drive it down the street and it was going really slow. Comes in after another customer had left and tells me that my transmission had burned up. Then he tells me that when he changed the fluid that the fluid was dirty and was of deposits then tells me that someone disconnected the transmission solenoid in transmission causing the transmission to fail. They were the only ones to touch the transmission. He said they would look at next week.
Response received via fax to Revdex.com -- scan is attached; text reads as follows:
"In re: ***
Mr *** brought his Blazer to us to have the transmission serviced.
During the pan off service we noticed a solenoid wire was off. Whether it just fell off or someone else removed it we do not know.
At any rate we connected it. Finished the service and road tested the vehicle.
It road tested ok however it had evidence of problems with excessive material in the pan and very dirty fluid.
When Mr *** returned we investigated and found that his check engine light was not working. We road tested the vehicle and yes the transmission needs work.
There is nothing that we did in doing a routine pan off service, replacement of the transmission filter and connecting a solenoid wire that was supposed to be connected.
When excessive material and very dirty fluid is found the life expectancy of a transmission is unpredictable.
Although we feel bad for Mr Greenwood...we did not cause his problem. We can certainly help him somewhat with the cost, but it is only as a customer courtesy.
We are not responsible for the repairs to this transmission. (September 25, 2018 9:55 AM) I have spoken to Mr *** and suggested he call James *** and work with him to repair it and he agreed to do so.
Respectfully,
Mike *** General Manager
CC: James *** -- Owner Waite Park Kennedy"
