Review: I received a $100 gift card to Keaton Row, a relatively new online service. From the start it was difficult to use the gift card to purchase merchandise as 1) the retailer limits which suppliers you can apply the gift card for merchandise purchase (this might not have been be disclosed at time of gift card sale that it cannot be used for some of their few retailers) 2) featured merchandise was often sold out on their site. Hence, it was difficult to find merchandise to apply the gift card towards. I decided to finish use of my gift card since it was always so difficult to get to use it. I noticed that their site now sent you directly to the online retailer to conplete the purchase. I was not able to use my gift card at this new retailer. I called the retailer and found they do not take outside gift cards. I went back to Keaton Row, to find updates on which retailers accepted their gift card. Their FAQ announced that they did not sell gift cards. Since that was a change from past practice, I emailed Keaton Row with the following text: "I have a credit remaining on a prior Keaton Row Gift Card. I had difficulty often using the gift card sometimes based on availability of merchandise or the limited retailers that I could use it with. I would like to redeem the remaining value but find that your policy on gift cards now says that "you do not sell gift cards." Today, I am not able to apply it to my order with Shopbop"Their response was as follows: "Hi [redacted],Unfortunately, those gift cards are now inactive. These were codes created by us at KR, used during our old checkout process. Now that clients are shopping directly at our retailers, these codes can not be used since they are not created by the retailers. We do apologize about this inconvenience.Best, [redacted]."I emailed back and informed that they could not just devalue my gift card like that and I wanted them to somehow issue me a credit for the unused value of my gift card. It has been four days, and I have not heard back. This is bad busines.Desired Settlement: THe unused amount of my gift card. There was no prior outreach to holders of gift card to give the an opportunity to use up their gift cards which was always super difficult to use for merchandise based on all of the restrictions on use, which were not reasonably made known at time of the gift card's purchase.
