I ordered a birthday cake from this business for my birthday on January 3, 2020. I requested a layer cake with purple ombre cake with purple ombre rose frosting. Sent pictures of what I was requesting. Contact person whom I believed was ***, said she could make the cake pictured. I sent a $30 deposit through ***. I met Ms., or the person who made the cake, in Lee's Summit, MO to take delivery. At my party, we followed the instructions of waiting 30 minutes after removing the cake from the refrigerator. The cake was not visually appealing nor did anyone, including myself, complete a piece of the cake served. T
I reached out to *** on 1/4/2020 to request a refund due to the cake's taste and appearance. Ms. stated that she would make me a replacement cake for Valentine's Day - 7 up cake with ombre purple rose frosting. Didn't hear from *** until I sent a message inquiring about our agreement. At that point, I received a message stating I would not be receiving a refund but I could get a "small cake" instead. However, when I attempted to respond I had been blocked on Messenger. Sent a text to phone number online and an email to the listed address on *** page.
They ate the whole cake. I asked her to send me pictures of the remainder of the cake. She sent me pictures of the cake and only icing was left.
When I made the cake, I sent pictures and she told me it was beautiful and she posted pictures on her social media and had many comments about how it was beautiful.
She then messaged me at 3am on January 4th saying "we had so many issues with the cake. It had no flavor, all we could taste was the purple food coloring. The more we ate it the more disgusted we got."
I have never received a response like this in the 5 years I have had my business. There is no way the cake was dry. The food coloring will give the cake an after taste. I always make a sample cake of what I'm making. I tasted it and had four other people taste and asked if it was dry or had an aftertaste. I didn't tell them about the situation that was going on. I wanted to know truthfully how it tasted. There were no complaints.
I told Ms. Malone to call me. She read my messages and did not respond. She then told me she had to let her dogs out and would call me later. She finally called me and then put her boyfriend on the phone and he said the cake was disgusting and not what was asked for.
I discounted her order because she was first time customer. I also didn't charge her a delivery fee.
I treat people the way I want to be treated.
The $30 deposit was non-refundable - it goes towards ingredients. That is listed on my website
I said I would make her another cake to smooth things over with her. My son and myself have been sick so this has slipped my mind.
She slandered me on many websites.
We did not eat the whole cake. three slices were cut from it. I asked Ms. if she wanted me to freeze the cake so she could see it to ensure we didn't eat the cake. She said to throw the cake out...I have more screenshots
