Review: The dishonesty and unreliability of Kalka heating has probably caused me to lose an offer on my house. After listing my place, receiving an offer and accepting it, my A/C broke down 2 days before the inspection. I called Kalka and explained I needed urgent service, which the best they could do was in 2-days time, half a day before my inspection. I explained the urgency of the situation several times and they assured me everything will be ok.Today, 3 hours before our appointment, they just called and said that they are overbooked, and I fall too low on their priority of appointments, so they have to move my appointment 4 (!) days later. I explained the urgency of the situation, even talked to a manager with no avail, they were completely apathetic to my problem. I am sure they pushed me back against other customers because I had purchased their Angies List coupon, and was not paying full price. Completely unprofessional and unacceptable behavior. There is no way I can get someone else to come and service my A/C in a days notice, which means that I will fail the inspection which means I will lose the offer on my house.Desired Settlement: I would like for Kalka Heating to either schedule an appointment for today (April 16 2014) or if that is not possible, reimburse me for the damages they caused. One way would be to schedule an appointment for early next week, completing the services at no charge.

Response:
Hi,
Thank you for your feedback. We apologize for any inconvenience that may have risen from this affair but, as we stated on the phone, there is a priority list for booked calls that we must abide to. First on our list are seniors, young children, and individuals with health concerns which may be aggravated by the hot weather. Following this category are our Home Protection Club members, as the pay a premium to receive priority scheduling. Then, all customers with demand service, such as yourself; I can assure the fact that you purchased an Angie’s List coupon does not affect the level of priority for your call.
Another fact to consider is that you called in the middle of the largest heat wave we’ve had this year, when we were booked 3 weeks out for most customers. Because of your situation we made an exception and placed you at the front of the line for demand service calls and were able to get you an appointment within 4 days. We are sorry the appointment was after your home inspection but we have limited resources and are unable to meet every customer’s timeline. We hope you can appreciate our position and will consider our company for your future heating and air conditioning needs.
Regards,
The Kalka Heating and Air Conditioning Team
Review: Called out the company due to air conditioning blowing hot air. They replaced a capacitor and said it would break down again unless I also installed a hard start kit those 2 items was 800 dollars. Told the service person it is still blowing hot. Said all my ducting needed to have the tape redone. Charged another 280 for that work and sent 2 minutes in my attic, When I checked the following weekend saw the work was not performed, I called the company back. A different service person cane and said it could not be redone and needed to be replaced and would credit my 280 on that 2250 dollar job. At that point they said the AC needed 5 pounds of freon and a leak kit for another 750. I called another company that added 1/4 pound of freon, confirmed the ducts were not retaped and wrote that on his receipt.Desired Settlement: Want to be refunded 280 dollars for the duct work that was never performed. Have a receipt from another company that confirmed the duct work is repairable and the tape was not replaced.
