It is unfortunate that the customer chose to remove her child from Kaleidoscope Childcare Center afteronly three days in attendanceThe customer was visibly anxious in leaving her child as many first-timeparents are, but the scenarios presented in her complaint are either inaccurate or distorted in
order tomake the business appear unprofessional, a view refuted on countless occasions by the number ofsatisfied families who either return as customers or refer others to Kaleidoscope, INCLUDING the familythat referred this customer to us.According to the complaint, the staff did not attempt to toilet train the childFirst, it IS the policy of thecenter to assist parents in toilet trainingIt is ludicrous for the customer to make such an allegation as1.) She was not at the center for the entirety of the day, and 2.) The child was not in attendance longenough for training to be successful. The customer stated that a teacher yelled at her child to stop cryingAt the time of this alleged incidentI was in fact in the next room where from my position I can hear any loud exchange, noise, ordisturbance in any of the surrounding roomsI heard no such yellingThe teacher that the child was withhas a deep voice that projects when she speaks, but she does not raise it in anger to her children. At the end of a given day it is part of closing procedure for the rooms to be vacuumedIt has been partof the routine for yearsIn no instance has there ever been a complaint of a teacher intentionally tryingto provoke a child or scare them with the vacuumIt is a housekeeping procedure, nothing moreTheteacher in question is one of the kindest people! have ever employed. The customer also stated that the child was traumatized and unable to sleep because of his experiencesat the centerThis statement is speculative and devoid of factual supportThe customer assumed, if infact the child had trouble sleeping, that it was due to his time at Kaleidoscope. When the customer called with her concerns, I was sympathetic to her feelings and listened to what shehad to sayI explained to her that when a new child enrolls, there are financial obligations not only onthe part of the parent but on me as the business owner as wellEmployees must be scheduled to keepclasses in ratio, meaning additional payroll costs are incurredIf class sizes change and ratio can’t bemet a new teacher must be hired, again effecting payrollFood and operational items must bepurchasedIt is for these reasons that each parent, prior to the onset of care, must sign a contract whichclearly states that any tuition unused for a calendar month, as well as the security deposit collected atthe time of signing, are forfeited if a parent decides to abruptly discontinue service during the month. This is also clearly stated in the parent handbook, which the customer was given several months prior toenrollment but told me that she did not take the time to readThe customer signed the contract whenenrolling her child. In looking at the history of Kaleidoscope, you will see that our record is impeccable and our complaintfile cleanThis is a case of a parent whose anxiety caused her to react irrationally after a short period oftime and expected that established business practice didn’t apply to her situationThank you for theopportunity to reply to this complaint. Most Sincerely,Michelle H***, DirectorKaleidoscope Childcare Center
