K Dixon Architecture

On November of 2018 I entered into a contractual agreement with Kathy D DBA (KDA Architecture) for the purposes of Designs and permit filling for my home remodel. The contracted services included providing a complete set of architectural/engineering construction documents (plans, elevations, sections, details, etc.) required for single-family residential construction per the International Residential Code (IRC 2012) and District of Columbia municipal standards. The scope of work is based on our previous discussions/meetings and will be executed in the following phases:
• Schematic Design (Preliminary base plan & concept design development; site layout);
• Design Development (Detailed development of building/site concept design & major building systems); • Construction Documents (Construction plans, specifications and necessary details for construction and permit application submittal/approval purposes)
• Permit Submittal
• Construction Administration Phase (as needed, hourly)...
Kathy charged me $11K for this service. It has been 10 going on ll months and this process and working with Kathy Dixon has been a nightmare. She has Poor follow-up and almost zero communication with me. She sent me plans priced per page and included pages I didn't even need which inflated the cost. Additionally I had to hire a contractor to speak to KDA on my behalf because Kathy was trying to bill me for plan revisions that could have been avoided had she presented full disclosure on the potential for cost and feasibility of some options. She was charging me for my lack of knowledge in key and technical areas of the project. My contractor has been emailing her for status updates and she has been unresponsive. I intend to file and E&O insurance complaint as well as this Revdex.com complaint. I am not happy with Kathy or her service level for $11,000
