I enrolled my daughter in this gymnastics program. I paid 6 months in advance. We were involved in an automobile accident. With all of our work schedules, school and chiropractic visits I was unable to take my daughter to her gymnastics class. They refuse to refund me August tuition. My daughter has not attended any classes in August, therefore we should get a refund. There website states to talk to *** during gymnastics hours with any situation that deals with money. When I spoke to *** she says she will forward the message to the accountant. The website and *** contradicts themselves. This has been going on for over 3 months. *** says there is no manager or number that I can speak to regarding this matter. This is not a well set up business and I need my refund.
Hello ***,
This is our reply to compliant # ***. First of all, we are a simple community gymnastics class and not a full time "business" so to speak. The parent who filed the complaint clearly did NOT read their class agreement, otherwise they would not be so surprised that there are NO REFUNDS. They also failed to mention in their complaint that they signed a six month class commitment which included that they fully understood that there are no refunds. They also fully understood that they were receiving a free membership/insurance and a free uniform because of their six month agreement. It's also clearly marked NO REFUNDS on the copy of their receipt that they sent you.
Our class is a Co-Op, run by volunteers each with a specific job to do.The handbook clearly states that all class business matters are handled with *** the desk volunteer, it's that simple!! The parent who filed this complaint has been demanding a refund but has NOT been demanding a refund for "over 3 months" as they have stated falsely. The parent has also been very rude toward *** (who's in her 80's) because of the no refunds policy that the parent agreed to in the first place!! The parent also keeps demanding to speak with a "manager" however, being as we are a class that only meets a handful of hours each week, we do not have one. Again, each volunteer adult has a specific job on the Co-Op staff.
The parent is completely mistaken about our website and *** "contradicting". *** HAS already mentioned to the class accountant, as well as many of the other Co-Op volunteers, that this parent is demanding a refund even after agreeing to a six month commitment and already receiving all the extra perks for that six month agreement. Even IF we offered refunds, it still would NOT apply to this parent as they did NOT fulfill their six month commitment. They would need to pay back the membership/insurance fee and pay for the uniform that they already received. These extra perks are NOT offered offered to students who attend less than six months. Furthermore, they would also need to pay back the difference between their six month discount tuition rate and the non-discount monthly tuition rate which applies to students who attend less than six months.
This parent never told *** that they were in a car accident. Instead, the parent changed her reason three times as to why they are dropping out of the class for August. First, the parent said that the child's school schedule was making it too hard for the child to attend the class, then the parent changed the reason to the child having medical reasons for not attending and now for the first time, we are finding out yet a different reason that the parent states they were in a car accident and unable to bring the child to class. In this parent's complaint, they said that for over 3 months they have been trying to resolve this refund issue yet the child has been attending the class monthly March. This parent is NOT being truthful in their complaint!! How is it possible that the parent's car accident happened long after the fact that they said they were supposedly trying to get a refund for "over three months"? Talk about "contradictions"!!
The bottom line is this: the parent signed a six month class agreement and signed that they clearly understood the no refund policy. It's that simple!! The parent obviously forgot that they were given a huge discount for a six month tuition rate, a free uniform AND free membership/insurance!! The parent also states that our class is not "well set up" yet we have dozens of student's parents who are very happy with how we are set up and have stated so many times!! We are just a community gymnastics class run as a Co-Op by several volunteer parents, coaches and grandparents and not a full time 50 hour per week gymnastics club with on site managers, bookkeepers, etc. etc.. Thank you for your time in handling this matter for us!!
I am rejecting this response because:
There are many false statements made in their response. Some of them now attacking my character which is greatly unappreciated. For starters not once have I ever been rude to ***. If anything she has been the only one helpful in the matter. She invited me back to see her weekly so she could share any new information she had for me regarding this issue. Had I been shown the "agreement" where it states no refunds on day one then maybe this issue wouldn't have gotten this far. I notified the business in July that my child would not be able to attend for our last month of August. Why the business is stating that I had been asking for 3 months and had 3 different reasons is beyond me. All I wanted to know was if would be able to get a refund for the last month that my child couldn't attend. When you get the run around for weeks and no one can give you a straight answer it becomes worrysome. I am choosing to leave this matter alone as it is not worth the stress to pursue any further.
