Johnson Water Conditioning Reviews (%countItem)

The Johnson Water Conditioning Co. serviceman, on November 6, 2018, not only didn't solve our low water pressure problem, but his work caused a blockage in our bathroom piping and he left our house in that condition and said we needed to call a plumber to solve the now non-working cold water tub faucet. We were charged the $97.00 initial 30 minute fee, then an additional $48.50 for 30 additional minutes. When we called a different water conditioning company to solve the problem, of course we had to pay their fee, and then we also needed to pay for repairing our tub faucet. We then called to complain to Johnson and ask for a refund because we have ended up paying three times over to solve the initial low water pressure problem. Johnson required that I speak to the serviceman himself to solve this and after 12 phone calls, he finally called me back and, after a long discussion, I agreed to a refund of only the extra $48.50 charge. Today was my 21st phone call regarding this whole situation because we haven't received our refund promised over 4 weeks ago. Today's phone calls alone totaled 6. The phone service reps know me by name and I them, and today's new story from them was that they cannot get ahold of the serviceman who promised this to me, and that the situation is to be handled by him and me because it is a "grey" area and "Johnson is not involved" in this. When I asked, again, for a company owner, CEO, or president, I was, again, told it was the holidays and they are in and out, which I was told in November prior to Thanksgiving and today is January 14. I then asked for an email to such person, and I was told they only have personal emails and that she would send me her email address so I could send my complaint to her to forward it to such person. She said she sent it while I was on the phone with her. It's been 5 hours since that phone conversation, and I haven't received it yet. I find them fraudulent, irresponsible, and dismissive of customers.

Johnson Water Conditioning Response • Jan 16, 2019

Johnson Water Conditioning would like to set the record straight regarding the complaint that Ms. has filed against our company.

We received a service request from Ms. on 11/03/2018. We agreed to perform the service on 11/06/2018. Ms. stated that she had a plumber over to her home because she had low water pressure in her home. She also stated that her plumber told her that it was being caused by the water softener and she should give them a call. (Johnson Water Conditioning did not install the water softener in this home) Ms. had Johnson Water Conditioning install an Iron Filter in this home on a rental basis on 9/20/2013. Several years later she bought and had us install a new Iron Filter on 5/13/2016. This Iron Filter must have been working fine as we never had a service call until 11/06/2018.

As it turns out, the low water pressure was due to a clogged check valve that was installed on the pipe that leads to the water filter system. I have no idea why the plumber did not fix the problem when he was there and passed it off to someone else. More on this to follow.

Our standard rate at this time for service was as follows. $97.00 for the first 1/2 hour and $97.00 per hour thereafter. We do not charge for the drivers time that we have to pay the driver to travel to the customers home. This rate is one of the lowest rates in our industry.

Our technician went to Ms. home and determined that the check valve was clogged with iron. The water that comes from the well at this home has an extremely high iron content. At this point he closed the water shut off valves so that he could perform this task. These water shut off valves were old gate valves that were installed by whoever installed the water softener in this home. These valves were not installed by Johnson Water Conditioning and they belong to Ms.. Upon completion of the replacement of the check valve, our technician turned the water back on. At this point he tried to flush out all of the iron that had built up in the pipes before the water filtration system.

At this point he found that the old gate valve on the raw or unfiltered water line was clogged with sludge and iron. After working on this valve to get it cleared and opened, some of the material flowed into the plumbing line in the house.

Our technician did the best he could to clear the screens in the home. He had to clean them out several times. He had everything working with good water pressure except for the cold water in the tub in the bathroom.

Ms. called us to make us aware of that and we let her know that disassembling faucets further than taking out the screen and cleaning it is beyond the scope of work that we do.

Ms. has to accept these facts:

1. The check valve that was clogged is a plumbing fixture that is hers and her responsibility and not under any warranty from Johnson Water Conditioning

2.The old gate valve that was clogged is a plumbing fixture that is hers and her responsibility and not under any warranty from Johnson Water Conditioning. Keep in mind that all of the problems that Ms. had, were generated from plumbing that was before the water filtration system.

3. Had the plumber that she had to her home properly diagnosed and fixed the problem, he would have run into the same problems as our technician did. He also would have been more qualified to disassemble the bathtub faucet and repair it.

4. Whether it was a technician from Johnson Water Conditioning or from the plumbing company, Ms. would have had to pay to have this service completed. Everything in the plumbing and on the plumbing is the property of Ms.. Any problem that arises from the quality of the water is the sole responsibility of Ms..

5. We also gave Ms. a substantial discount for the work that we did complete that day. The total charged that day was $145.50. We only charged for a total of 1 hour of labor. The bill also did not reflect the new check valve. The bill should have been $211.79 for the 1 hour and 41 minutes of time that our technician was there plus $70.20 for the check valve for a total of $281.99. We have tracking on our trucks and can substantiate the time that our technician was at this home working.

6. The water softener and iron filter were working perfectly when Jason left the house.

We did explain all of this to Ms.. Our technician actually offered to refund a portion of the amount paid out of his own pocket because he knew that he would be in trouble if management looked into this situation and found out that he did not charge this customer for all of the time that he was there and the new check valve. What does he gets for trying to be a nice guy? A bad review slandering his and our companies reputation and a Revdex.com complaint.

Johnson Water Conditioning Response • Jan 18, 2019

I have read this customers response. Our serviceman charged this customer less for the time that he spent at this home than he should have. He also did not charge for the plumbing parts that he replaced. As to the water conditioning system not working after our serviceman left the home, I need to see an invoice from the company who came in after us. I would also like to know where this customer was experiencing low water pressure in the home.

Customer Response • Jan 21, 2019

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:

I comply with the request for the information, though not with the company name or copy of invoice because this isn't about their work. It read: "DESCRIPTION: Distributor (1" Basket)" from their invoice dated 11/23/18. While not listed on the invoice, I physically witnessed the technician clean and replace screens and injectors on both sides, and the one on the left was rust-filled. While the other one appeared clean, the Johnson serviceman noted that he cleaned the screens and injectors, of which I was under the impression he did both sides. The low water pressure had been at every faucet, including the washing machine as well.

I thank Johnson for finally paying attention to what matters, that of solving my water pressure problem, in their recent response. However, the problem was solved by the follow up work on our water system. It does not solve the issue of which I have originally complained since November with over 20 phone calls: They failed to solve the low pressure problem, created another one at the cold water faucet in the bathroom which required a replacement of the cartridge and handle adapter.

Sincerely,

Jill
