Johnson Roofing was paid in full for our home's new roof but failed to pay the supplier of the building materials who is now seeking payment from us.
In January 2019, Johnson Roofing installed a new roof on our home. The contract dated January 10 lists all labor/materials and quotes a total cost of $14,595. The statement dated January 16 is marked "paid in full" and shows a downpayment of $5000 plus final payment of $9595 when the roof was completed. Checks totaling $5000 and $9595 were given to Travis Johnson and were cashed on January 10 and January 17.
In March 2019, *** sent us and the contractor notice of claim of unpaid billings totaling $5975.97 for roofing supplies. According to Texas Property Code, *** can put a lien on the property where supplies were used even when the homeowner has paid for the supplies to the contractor whose contract state "Johnson Roofing to furnish all materials and labor."
We contacted Travis Johnson who acknowledged the unpaid bill and said he "would take care of it." We stayed in contact with Mr. Johnson for the past month via phone and text; he cited reasons for delays and promised payment of the bill. The bill remains unpaid, and we believe a lien has been placed on our home.
We don't know whether this is a one-time problem or whether this is a pattern of scamming customers. We really need your assistance in resolving this concern.
We are asking Johnson Roofing to pay their unpaid bill at *** for the roofing materials used on our home. We are also asking for them to deliver a full release of lien obtained from *** when the bill is paid.
I paid the lien off the materials off everything's done I don't have the paper that is paid off but it's everything is paid off
(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
We called the county clerk's office today and confirmed that the paperwork removing the lien on our home has been filed. Mr. Johnson has paid his bill at *** and has delivered the paid bill to the county clerk. Thank you for your help.
