My vehicle was improperly reassembled after windshield replacement resulting in melted parts and potential car fire.I had my windshield replaced on or about 8/16/2013. The technician failed to reassemble the car correctly, losing track of a part that fell onto the exhaust header. The part melted into a smoking mess of burned rubber and plastic. I contacted the company to have them look at the problem. A second tech found the melted item, scraped it off the header and assured me that the part would be ordered and replaced. I waited 3+ weeks and never heard back. I went to my local mechanic and had the part replaced at a cost of $17.96. I also contacted JN Phillips customer service. They assured me that they would reimburse me for the out of pocket expense. On September 26, I emailed a representative, Dave Bean, the invoice as requested and was promised a prompt claim. I followed up a week or two later and was told my claim had been approved and I should have it shortly.I did not receive any reimbursement or further contact. My JN Phillips invoice # is XXXXXXXX.My complaint is that my car was damaged, could have caught on fire, cost me a minimal expense and JN Phillips failed to take any corrective action except empty promises to make good on their shoddy service.Desired SettlementI want the $17.96 refunded
Had to install my windshield twice, the first time they ruined my wipers. I had to purchase over $200 in parts to repair and have waited more then a month for reimbursement that still hasn't arrived. No communication and poor quality workmanship. Second windshield is tinted the wrong color and has tint where the original and the first replacement did not (this I won't complain about to them because the second install is actually ok even though it's not the oem glass). Do yourself a favor and call safelite instead.
