I had a great experience with J & M Motors, My vehicle rolled over and died and I needed a vehicle fast. I seen the vehiclle I really wanted a GMC Yukon, I was aproved within an hour from a network of banks they work with and within a couple hours I was driving home. Great to work with.
I bought a 2004 Jeep Cherokee Laredo from JM motors in February of 2018. Since I had the truck, it has been back and forth to the shop. I have basically paid to fix almost everything under the hood. I called the car lot to see if they would trade the truck for something better. But the only response I have received was the workers and the owner being very rude and told me it's nothing they can do about the truck and that I could use one of their shops. They won't trade the car out . They say its to early to trade. When I first got the truck it was in their shop for over 30 days and they wouldn't restart the warranty when I got it back. They say they put to much money into the car already.
All of JM Motor's vehicles are sold with a 30 day powertrain warranty. The state of Illinois requires a 15 day warranty. JM Motors gives more than asked from the state of Illinois. When you informed us of the problems you were having with the vehicle, we did what we could to solve the problem. We sent the vehicle to a repair shop on 03-19-18 to replace the fuel rail, front calibers, and a master cylinder. The total of these repairs were $839.50. This was done at no charge to the customer. Additionally on 04-04-18 there were repairs don totaling $90.
Unfortunately, due to many policies, we are not able to trade customers out of vehicles for repair problems. There are many factors that go into the purchase of a vehicle, including sales tax and title fees. The vehicle is no longer under warranty, leaving the customer responsible for repairs. At the time of purchase the warranty was discussed with you and we feel we have went above and beyond by paying $900 to fix the issues.
I purchased a car from this dealership 3/2/2018. I was given 90 day temporary tags. I learned from the Secretary of State that it was a repossessed vehicle. The title is still in the previous owner's name. The tags expire tomorrow. This dealership knowingly sold me the car when it was repossessed. I put $1500 down and I've made payments which total $527.00. My car note is due tomorrow, June 2, and I don't want the car repossessed for lack of payment, but I don't want to pay for something I can't drive.
This business has resolved our conflict. I was able to get my plates and they credited me 2 months of payment.
2/22/18 I bought a *** Jeep Patriot from the owner ***, it came with a 30 day warranty. Within 3 days, I took it back to have it looked at. All of my lights came on, speedometer went out, the passenger's side headlight went out and then came back on, the truck was shaking really bad, and it doesn't accelerate properly. They "fixed" everything but the shaking and acceleration. But then just a little while later, all the lights came back on so I took it back to give them another chance to fix it. They tried to fix it again. It didn't work. Then the third time I went to have them look at the truck, they gave me a loaner car, a Ford Escape, it was not as bad as the Jeep, but it was shaking too. When I came back I dealt with ***, he was really nice and understanding. He apologized a few times. But he said I'd still have to pay another 500 to trade into something else. He was the one that gave me the Escape and then wanted me to sign some paperwork to keep it which I didn't want because it also didn't work well. They seem aggravated with me but I work hard and have a baby and it's not my fault that the car they sold me was in bad shape. When I told them I wouldn't sign any paperwork, 30 mins later they came to get the loaner (it had temporary tags) without telling me and they brought this the still broken Jeep. I got a second opinion about the Jeep's repairs, they said they transmission is slipping which is exactly what it felt like. At one point, JM said they would return about $1500 to me. But I've had to call off work, put gas into the loaner car, pay other people gas money, broken down, been late for an interview. I've paid $2250 (including taxes) for the down payment and my first month's payment. I think I should get about $1750 back. Two Saturdays ago, I went back and spoke to *** who admitted the Escape is shaking, then he got an attitude with me and said there was nothing he can do. He said I had pissed the owner off and they weren't going to trade me into another vehicle and they weren't going to refund me ANY money. Then *** sent me a text saying they would trade me into a different car or figure something out. But then they basically repo-ed the loaner car.
On February 22, 2018, you purchased a *** Jeep Patriot from JM Motors. The vehicle came with a 30 day or 3,000 mile power train warranty. Before you ever purchased the vehicle, we spent $1,064.55 reconditioning the vehicle at ***'s Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram. A few days after the purchase you expressed a few concerns. WE then told you to take the vehicle to *** and we would take care of the bill. The services we provided did not meet your expectations. During these two service visits we spent an additional $597.43. And also offered for you to bring it back a third time.
At this point you then wanted a different vehicle. We agreed to trade you out of the Jeep and proceeded to show you a few different options. Upon the options you decided on a *** Ford Escape. We allowed you to take a vehicle overnight in agreeance that you would be in the next day to do the paperwork for the trade out. We tried to contact you and got no response. After 10 days of minimal contact with you driving our loaner vehicle, we felt it was necessary to retrieve the vehicle due to insurance policies. Since the Patriot was still a functioning vehicle, we returned it to you so you would still have transportation.
JM Motors found it was going to be difficult to meet your needs in your price range. Illinois requires the tax, title, and license to be paid whether the customer keeps the vehicle or not. The tax, title, and license are not the dealership responsibility, but the customer's. With a down payment of $2000 minus tax, title, and license of $658 left $1342. We offered to refund you $1500 which we felt was a generous offer.

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because: I do not feel as if $1500 is a fair amount after dealing with such unprofessionalism along with still driving a defective vehicle. That wouldn’t even cover the down payment if I were to purchase another vehicle. I have gotten the vehicle professionally looked at, as well as them attempting to contact you. I will continue to be current on my payments and drive the vehicle until the PRE EXISTING issues cause me to be unable. . I have also filed a complaint through the attorney generals office. This was my attempt to settle things in a professional and FAIR manner. Your company will not get away with ripping me of! I will make sure EVERYONE knows how inconvenient you all made this entire situation for me. This ALLLLL goes back to the Jeep being defective from the VERY BEGINNING. This will not be the last you hear from me or of this situation. I am not going to lose out on money for a situation your business is at fault for. If you were in my position would you just take the broken down car? Or lose out on most of your money?? Seems like a win win either way, RIGHT?!?? What a JOKE!
Sincerely
I purchased a 2006 Dodge Charger from this dealer on February 17, 2018. The car had a 30-day warranty. Two weeks after the purchase, I had problems with the car-I had a slow leak in the tire. The bolts were stripped. The brakes and rotors went out. The entire front end of the car is messed up. A different mechanic told me that the parts were rotted out. He said that he could tell that the car had been repaired only to last about 30 days. The check engine light has been on. The oil and antifreeze are mixing. It is on the verge of being a blown head gasket. When I spoke to the people at J & M they said that they would not replace the motor, and this is only two weeks after purchasing the car. They did offer to make an appointment for me that was ANOTHER two weeks out which would have put me past the 30 day warranty period. I don't know how this car possibly passed inspection. I haven't seen the inspection papers as of yet.
We are in good standing with the customer. All warranty issues have been resolved. Had the engine needed to be replaced, we would have per her 30 day powertrain warranty. It did not go through a Missouri safety & emission's test because we are an Illinois dealer and are not required to do so. All in which was explained to the customer in depth/detail at the point of sale.
Also explained to the customer all claims must be made within the 30 days. Due to scheduling issues at our shop, the work to be performed could not be taken care of within 30 days. But as long as a claim has been made, it would be taken care of.

I purchased a 2006 Honda Odyssey September 2017 and it came with a 30 day warranty. The second day the under carriage fell off and I took it to a mechanic for repair. Two days later it stopped running and you directed me to Precision for the repair and 3 days after getting it from them it had the same problem and I returned it again. The shop said it needed an oil pump switch and wheel alignment. However, two weeks ago it had the same problem and the mechanic said it was catalytic converter and after that repair it would not start and was towed to ***. Meyer checked it and said it was a sensor and had an oil leak and was not safe to be driven. I spoke with *** about all the problems and she said you could place me in another vehicle if the repair was too much. The repair estimate was $2700. My wife and I returned to JM Motors to exchange the Odyssey for something else, but you asked for $2000 down payment. I don't feel we should have to come up with the down payment. The vehicle is still in your possession.
