My complaint is billing. I contacted this dentist to see if I could make an appointment (asap) to have a tooth extracted. The tooth was giving me pain.I called the dental office on 7/2/2012 seeking information. The receptionist/office manager ( I think her name was [redacted], but I am not for sure) answered and I asked her was the office open on Saturdays. She informed me they were not open on Saturdays but they did offer evening appointments. I explained to her that I had a tooth that had recently broke and it was starting to cause me pain. I told her that I wanted to have the tooth pulled. I explained that I did not get off work until 5pm but I needed to have this done real soon. She informed me that the next available appointment would be on Thursday (7/5/2012 @5:15pm) but if a cancellation came up she would call me and let me know. She went on to ask me about the tooth. I told her that it had started hurting off and on and now it was really giving me pain; I explained that I did not have medical insurance and that someone from my job had had a similar situation and needed to see a dentist quickly and that the dental office had accomodated my co-worker the same day she had called. We confirmed the appointment, but,I made sure to ask her how much would this extraction cost. She asked me about insurance. I explained to her that I was working on a temp assignment for this company anticipating being hired into the company, but as of yet, I was still a temporary worker. I explained that for my medical needs I was going through the rating system at Metro Hosp. An immediate dental appointment was out of the question. It would be at least a month to see a dentist at Metro;I needed this tooth out ASAP. Anyway she quoted me $127.00 for an exam, one xray of the tooth and the extraction. I said I could put half on a credit card and pay the other half. After the tooth was extracted I was charged 227.00 which is about a one week pay for me. She says that is what she quoted me originally.
