Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/06/26) */
We disagree with customers statement here. After the truck was sold, he did bring it back and we did repair the heater core to fix the problem. We did not hear back from him till sometime mid January, 2015 and he complained about losing heat...
again and we informed him that we stay back on our products for 30 days from date of purchased and the time frame has expired on Dec 12, 2014. Also there was a extended warranty that was purchased by the dealership at our own cost that would cover his truck powertrain components for up to $5000. We can not ignore calls here as we have multiple phone lines and if a call comes it automatically gets allotted to a salesperson. There is no way we have a choice of not answering calls on our sales line.
Then we never heard back from him till sometime in the month of April I believe. Customer was in NB and stated that truck now has a blown head gasket and local [redacted] dealership would not honor any third party warranty company's coverage to fix it. We suggested him try another mechanic shop there as we knew that most of the shops in Alberta work with this warranty company. Next thing we know that he was going to drive this truck to Edmonton and wants our help in getting the claim for the repair. We did tell him that we would try our best to help him correspond with he warranty company and try to get him maximum claim limit of $5000 but if the bill is over that he will be responsible for the balance and also if he drives this truck from NB to AB with blown head gasket it will be on his own risk. Customer did agree to both terms. Then the truck went in to [redacted] (recommended by customer) for head gasket repair and we did help him to get an approval for up to $5000 from warranty company. It was all resolved at that point and then after about week and half customer called us back and wanted another $4000 to cover the expense for a new engine. We believe that the engine is damaged due to customer's own negligence and any amount over and above the $5000 warranty coverage was his responsibility. Therefore we would not entertain his claim.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2015/06/30) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The did replace the thermostats on November 13 2014 and before I made it out of the city of Edmonton, I lost heat again. I[redacted] was not able to return the truck right away. I drove the truck minimal due to no heat after traveling over 100km/h. They answered my calls till around the first of December trying to figure out what it was. [redacted] asked me to book it in at a [redacted] dealer in [redacted] but they never had a opening for two weeks. After that they refused to answer my calls and return any messages. I drove the truck home at the end of January and then finally got back ahold of them in febuary and I told them that I had my truck going into [redacted]. Jeet auto said, once I told them mid March that I was told the head gasket was gone and that that is why I lost my heat the first night I bought the truck because it put an air bubble in my heater core which blocked the movement of the fluid through my system to produce heat, jeet told me to bring the truck to them and they would pay for 2/3 of the repair and I would have to cover the other 1/3 of it. I agreed and brought my truck to them. I delivered my truck and they had it for over a week with out calling me and when I called them, they just said that they will not help me out and it's not their problem that I had problems with the truck because it past Alberta safety inspection, which is only lights and brakes are good and nothing else matters. I did get [redacted] to cover $4910 of the repairs but jeet auto has known since day one that I had problems with the heat and [redacted]. Thank you. [redacted]
