I felt taken advantage of. I took my car which had very bad brakes basically metal on metal at that point(my fault I know it is stupid) to Janes Auto after seeing them on *** and thought,"Oh I think a woman ran Auto will take care of me". NOPE. (Just over a year ago I took my car to a big box brake shop and was charged almost $600 and they replaced my rotars and the shoes and pads.) I left my car overnight and asked them to message or call me with the estimate. They text me the next day and told me that my drums needed to be replaced and quoted me to fix my brakes $789.61. Which was outside of my budget. I let them know this and said my friend who Tows would be there the next morning between 9AM and 10AM to pick up my car and take it home. I asked them to put it back together and that I would be taking my car back. I asked them what I owed(if anything for diagnosing a problem I knew I had) and they told me $135. What I didn't think was ok was that the car wasn't ready when the tow truck driver got there. And that they basically handed my brother who works on cars a bunch of parts that they broke and said that the emergency brake was now broken. What the heck? The emergency brake worked just fine when I dropped off the car. I basically paid these people to break my car more than it already was. After I paid the $135- a dear friend told me about repair pal and this price to do a "diagnostic" was $10 over the cost of the highest charging shop. They would not release my car unless I paid the $135 price. I am not happy with what happened with my car at all. I own my part in it, but I would not recommend this shop to anyone I know nor my worst enemy.
Diagnosis
Findings (Rear) No brake fluid in the reservoir lead us to believe there was a leak was possible findings were that the Wheel Cylinder was ripped ( picture sent to the client) car is not safe to drive Needed is Drum (Left ) Spring Kit, Brake shoes, and Wheel Cylinder Client was quoted and denied work to be done. Pictures were sent to the client via text, to prove our findings. to do this we had to disassemble the wheel. springs are the only parts we gave back to the client's brother due to they were broke not by us but by the damage due to the negligence of the rear brakes. I was told she could not afford it and the church would do them Labor free (This was at 4:58 pm Wednesday 2 min before closing when Miss *** text me that a tow truck would be picking up her car 9-10 am I said that was fine we open at 8: 00 am and our Techs come in at 8:30 am so no her car was not ready at 8:45 am because we had to put it back together its not an easy as pie task to do as for the emergency brake we disconnected it and told the brother it was disconnected. it was not broke. if pictures are needed for this review I will be more than to provide them.
