I am writing to complain that American Family Insurance [redacted] first, failed to reasonably provide this Veteran, this 100% service-connected disabled Veteran, appropriate service, and second, failed to acknowledge that I canceled, in writing, my business with them on March 1, 2016, because of their failure to reasonably meet the special needs of a 100% service-connected disabled Veteran. This failure by American Family Insurance [redacted] is especially distressing and disgusting as a grim 22 Veterans kill themselves each DAY due to a lack of gratitude and appropriate service. Nevada is a staggering number two in the nation for Veterans' suicides, 74% MORE than that already repugnant national rate. We women Veterans are six times MORE likely to kill ourselves than non-women Veterans. We Veterans are only a rare 7% of the American population but account for THREE times that much, 21% of all suicides. This failure, this lack of gratitude, by American Family Insurance [redacted] to provide appropriate and reasonable service to a Veteran, grimly contributes to why 20,000 Veterans attempt suicide each year and why 8,000 Veterans succeed in killing themselves each year.As consistently trained by my Department of Veterans Affairs healthcare providers these last 42 years, I contacted this new office when my business was transferred to this American Family Insurance office when my other agent retired. I identified myself as a 100% service-connected disabled Veteran, with special needs, which the previous agent had always met. I received assurance from [redacted] that her office would continue to meet my special needs. The first time I did, they didn't. That ingratitude contributes to the why of Veterans' suicides. The VA has taught me for 42 years to confront such toxic behavior to Veterans and, if one is still not willing enough to accommodate Veterans, to remove myself from such ungrateful.Desired SettlementThis Veteran wants American Family Insurance [redacted]. to first stop contributing to Veteran's suicides, second to do their duty to America's Veterans and third acknowledge I canceled my business with them on March 1, 2016, since they didn't accommodate this 100% service-connected disabled Veteran's needs.Business Response [redacted] account with the [redacted]s Agency has been terminated on March 1 2016 per her request. We thank [redacted] for her service to our county and wish her best of luck in the future.
