Review: This contractor was hired to remodel my family room. The work that he needed to complete was: removing the trim on the walls, removing the existing paneling on one wall, removing two closets, placing drywall on the wall where the paneling and closets were located, lay a laminate floor and trim. The contractor stated that the work would be completed in one week. After the six week mark, the job was still not completed. He would start his day at 10:00 and leave promptly at 2:00 each day. There were several days where he didnt show up, but I was told that he didnt have any other work at this time. The drywall that was installed was done so incorrectly. The new contractor I hired to complete the job installed the trim and noticed that the drywall was not straight because there was about a half inch gap between the wall and trim. This happened several places on the wall that was installed. There were places on the floor where the glue that was used was not wiped away and left a residue. The contractor ate my food, including leftovers which were in my refrigerator. Lastly, the contract specifically states that 50% down at the beginning and balance when complete. However, he asked for money to buy supplies two times during his work and asked for the balance prior to the job being complete. There were materials that were purchased but not given to me, as well as existing vents that were in the room that were removed from the house and not returned.Desired Settlement: I paid the contractor $4,250 to complete the job. The job was not completed and the work completed was not acceptable. I feel that because the job was not completed and not acceptable, a full refund would be acceptable to me.
