I hired Mr. to make the final connection between my new Lift Master gate operator and the new BFT intercom box. I talked to Mr. the day before he came out to do the work and described what I needed. At that time I explained exactly what he would see when he arrived and ask as to what the cost would be ( all required wiring in conduit was in place ). He responded that if that is what I needed he "couldn't see how that could take more than 1 hour and said the cost should not be more than $450.00. He also mentioned that he charges for travel time, $136.00, included in that amount. I assumed "Travel time " was his shop to my house. On Friday April 17, Mr. arrived exactly on time (10:00 am), reviewed the job and started work. Mr. finally finished the connection at exactly 12:30, considerably longer than he had forecast. I asked him what I owed him for the service and he said $936.00. I choked and repeated the amount and he laughed loudly and said "I told you I was expensive". Mr. did not tell me he was EXPENSIVE. He said he " couldn't imagine it being more than $450.00." Mr. provided no materials for this work. Additionally, I sent Mr. a TXT on his Cell (on 4-17-20 )asking for an Invoice of these charges and to date have received nothing from him. I am filing this complaint so others can know what to expect when dealing with Mr *** at Elk Grove Overhead Door.
Elk Grove Overhead Door (EGOD) removed my entryway gates and sent them out for powder coating. When they were done, EGOD reinstalled the gates as well as new gate openers using my existing in ground safety loops. Missing was a part of one gate, a copper sun. *** Jones, owner of Elk Grove Overhead Door said it was back at the shop. They said my existing exit wand sensor was not compatible with their gate opener and would have to be replaced. I asked *** if that was included in the price quoted. He said Yes. He further stated that someone would stop by within the next 2-3 months to complete the job, installing the exit wand sensor and the missing sun from the gate. I took him at his word and paid him in full. It has been more than 2 years since the gate openers have been installed and *** has yet to complete the job, despite numerous phone calls and emails.
