We were contacted by *** ***, as indicated, on 2/5/stating that his ceiling was leaking due to water damage from the bathroom we remodeled in November of 2015. Although the warranty offered by J & M, and required by the Department of Labor and Industries, is for a one-year period, we
quickly jumped to action calling *** right away and sending a skilled craftsman out to assess the situation. Upon arrival, our craftsman investigated the source of the leak and found that a tile had been cracked, in the shower pan. The cracked tile was a result of something hard falling on it and the WEDI liner, which is an integral part of keeping the shower pan water-tight, had a tear in it. Our craftsman spent a significant amount of time there investigating to ensure that was in-fact the cause. In order for a shower pan tile to crack, in the way this one had, something pretty hard would have had to have fallen on it, thus compromising the WEDI beneath. Upon showing this to *** ***, he seemed to understand, and we advised that J & M would be happy to get it repaired ASAP, despite our full schedule, but it would not be under any warranty as it was not a result of defective install. Our crew has installed the WEDI shower pan systems in hundreds of bathrooms and are certified by WEDI as installers. It is very unfortunate that *** *** cracked a tile and compromised his shower pan, however, we can not warranty something two-years after install, that was not a result of faulty labor.
