I am in contact with the customer via email and we have agreed on a reimbursement for items damaged and time spent cleaning.

I'm sorry about this.  I was away last week and I honestly never received your contact message as I was sure to check my email every day.  I will speak to my husband in regards to this and rest assured that if he doesn't fix this situation.  I most certainly will.
