IRB Medical Equipment

I'm a newly diagnosed diabetic and I came in to pick up my first prescribed glucometer from the West Bloomfield location on Tuesday. I stopped by during my lunch break, so I didn't have time to look over all the equipment I received until I got home from work later that evening. I was upset to find that the glucometer that I was given expires in three months. I called for a replacement, for which the customer service rep tried to convince me to use the glucometer that seems to be manufactured in 2016. That was not a satisfactory response for me as this is my health and my insurance only covers a new glucometer every five years. I expect a piece of new health equipment should not expire in the next few months. It took longer than it should have for her to agree for me to exchange it and I agreed to come in later in the week to pick a new one up. Then she calls me back a few minutes later to inform me that every glucometer at the WB location expires that same time as the one they gave me. They will have to get one from the warehouse.

This is super frustrating, as I should be testing my blood sugar already and they won't have a glucometer for me until the next week!

Yesterday, I was pleased to get a call informing me that the new glucometer would be shipped to me and that I would not have to go the West Bloomfield location to pick it up.

I was highly disappointed as I opened up the shipped glucometer I received today to find they sent me one that expires at the END of this month.

This has been a very disappointing experience. I really hate that I have to waste my time calling again on Monday and have to deal with someone trying to convince me to accept inadequate equipment to manage my health. I am going to look into filing a complaint.
