Inver Grove Ford Lincoln Reviews (%countItem)

I dropped my vehicle off for an oil change, tire rotation and an exhaust leak on September 6, 2019. The oil change, tire rotation and exhaust manifold was replaced. The repair tech started the vehicle when the repair was completed and the vehicle was making a loud obnoxious noise. They didn't know what was wrong with it, so they pushed the truck outside and didn't touch it for approx. 13 days. They called Extended Service Plan (ESP) and was told to check other parts of the motor. This went on for approx. 2 weeks before they were advised to remove the motor. It was at this point, they determined something had fallen into the combustion chamber. The dealership was working with ESP to see if they would cover the cost for repair. ESP demanded to see pictures and sent out someone to visually inspect the vehicle. I was told I had the wrong warranty and had to upgrade the warranty. I upgraded the warranty at Dealership's direction. In the end, ESP denied the claim. Inver Grove Ford sent in an appeal, which included more pictures, and we received notification the appeal was denied on Monday, Nov 25. The dealership has denied any wrongdoing and will not accept any responsibility for the vehicle while it's been in their possession. When the initial damage was discovered, I was told the engine needed to be replaced and cylinder head. Now that the warranty has denied it, they only want to replace one rod and one piston. The dealership is supposedly working with the Ford Rep (Greg Leader) for the region and has been since October 29 and we haven't had any resolution. Every time I call Eric, he tells me they are working on it, but I've been hearing that for 14 weeks. Eric keeps telling me different stories every time I call, so I'm not sure what to believe. First, nothing went through engine, then I was told the head broke off, then maybe carbon deposit, now a piece of a brand new exhaust manifold might have fallen off (even through exhaust manifold exits the motor)

This is an exceptional case. We are working diligently with Ford to get this repair covered if possible. We have been providing the customer a truck to use at our expense.

Customer Response • Dec 13, 2019

I am rejecting this response because:
While the dealership is trying to figure out how to help and has provided me a rental to use, it does not solve the issue that I still do not have my truck, I’ve lost wages since I haven’t been able to work to my full capacity and have had to take time out of my working hours to call/stop at the dealership, call Ford Assist, and do everything to try and get my truck back. On top of it, they are asking me to pay for their mistake. Everything they are doing now could have been done weeks ago, but instead waited until now to take action. I stopped in and spoke to one of the higher-ups at the dealership and to my surprise he knew nothing about my truck being in the shop for so long. Since that meeting, it has escalated to the owner. I brought my truck in for an oil change, tire rotation and exhaust leak... it wasn’t until after the exhaust leak and oil change was completed that the unknown debris went through the motor. Why should I (or my warranty) be responsible for a dealership mistake? Mistakes happen, but it’s how mistakes are handled that dictate whether they are trying to do what’s best for the customer or themselves.

I went in last week about my blinker on my new mustang. I was told by Eric it was a circuit system that needed to be replaced. Ok no problem.
I get my car back to find a whole new tail light. Never ONCE was it told
To me or my father standing right next to me the tail light would be replaced.

When I brought my concern back ERIC threatened to “throw me out” I told him you don’t run this dealership, I want your boss. I after Eric lied 3 more times about what he told
Me when his boss showed up, finally I got my
Out light back.

1. My money still hasnt been returned in my account and
2. You should pay me
Something from my trouble
Of being lied to, and mislead..then threatened by Eric.

Do you think a person would be so mad about a tail light had you shared the tail light needed to be removed to the consumer?

Inver Grove Ford Lincoln Response • Jul 02, 2019

Customers credit card was refunded the day of the concern. Her old part was installed on her vehicle.

The diagnosis was done and the taillight is the failed component. We apologize for any misunderstanding but we diagnosed the vehicle and made the correct repair. We have now removed the new part and refunded her the total amount spent. We are unable to reimburse her $250.00 for her inconvenience. We don't feel that we did anything wrong on this visit.

Customer Response • Jul 02, 2019

I am rejecting this response because: I was NEVER told about the light being replaced. My dad was there as witness. In no form or fashion was this communicated.

then this eric guy threatened me by rather not dealing with the customer complaint, and rather THREATEN to “throw me out”

the $250 is for the the threat, and down-right false-truth business.

I do not have the best credit, so I feel that I was sold a used car with lots of issues. I went to Ford in Inver Grove with $2500 to put down on a car and I was given a 2013 Chevy Impala. After having the car for a week I had to bring it back in for rotors. It has been 29 days today and I had to bring it back in for what I thought was transmission issues, but come to find out it is a wheel barring and brake collaborator catching. They call to tell my it will be $1800 dollars. I just put $2500 down on this used car and now I have to put $1800 into it less then a month later They will not cover this and I feel like they totally took advantage of me because I have bad credit. I came in with $2500 down hoping to get a car that would last a while and not have a huge payment. It's very frustrating when you safe up and try to get some thing reliable and this happens.

Inver Grove Ford Lincoln Response • Apr 02, 2019

Vehicle was purchased on 02/28/2019 with 96,415 miles on it. They brought the vehicle in on 3/29/2019 with 97,870 miles on it. We covered inspecting and diagnosing the concerns they mentioned but are not able to cover the repairs. It was sold "as is" and unfortunately there is some risk involved with cars with higher miles. We inspect vehicles, make sure they are safe, but cannot control future repairs that may arise. They put approximately 1500 miles on the car and we have to assume these two concerns were not evident when vehicle was purchased.

Customer Response • Apr 03, 2019

I am rejecting this response because:
I only drive to and from work maybe 5 miles one way and to the stores on Robert St in W St. Paul, there is no way I put 1500 miles on the car in 29 days! Either they wrote the miles down wrong in the beginning or messed with it! If I was told this is the car and this is wrong and you can have it as is, I wouldn’t have purchased it!!! I told Tabaitha in the beginning I didn’t want the car, but she told me if I went elsewhere I would get a high mile car with transmission issues and to just get this car make my payments for a year and I can come back and trade it in for a better car, something I would want! At this rate this car isn’t going to make it a year!! Truly unfair circumstances, Ford is awful for doing this to a single mother that saved up for a reliable car!

WHEN I BOUGHT MY 2010 FORD ESCAPE FROM INVER GROVE FORD THEY SAID IF I PURCHASED A CONTRACT FOR REPAIRS AND DID NOT USE I WOULD RECEIVE MY 2500 MONEY BACK EITHER WHEN I WENT TO 100000 MILES OR THE YEAR 2020. BEFORE I REACHED 100000 I CALLED INVER GROVE FORD, THEY KEPT PUTTING ME OFF AND ADDING NEW STIPULATIONS TO GET MONEY BACK. SAID TO SEND IN ODOMETER READING. LICENSE ID. COPIES OF CONTRACT. I COMPLIED THEY DID NOT ANSWER PUT ME OFF. TODAY I GET A LETTER STATING I DID NOT QUALIFY AS MILES WERE 800 OVER. MILES WERE UNDER BEFORE THEY KEPT PUTTING ME OFF AND IGNORING PHONE CALLS. VERY DECEITFUL AND CROOKED. I BOUGHT CONTRACT FROM SAXON AUTO GROUP. I HAVE AAL MY ORIGINAL PAPERWORK. DO NOT BUY FROM INVER GROVE FORD. THEY ARE CROOKED

We agreed to make an exception and refund the customer her $2289.00. I do not understand why she filed this complaint.

In February of 2018 I bought a 2012 Ford Escape from Inver Grove Ford Lincoln. When I excepted delivery of the vehicle I asked if everything had been checked and was in good working order, the dealership assured us it was. When it warmed up I turned on the Air Conditioner it squealed and black smoke came out of the hood. It was clear that the Air conditioner was not in working order when I bought the vehicle. I contacted the dealership and they are not willing to repair back to the working order they claimed it was in.

Inver Grove Ford Lincoln Response • May 01, 2018

Vehicle was sold "as is" due to mileage of 87,300 at time of sale. We would consider performing repair at a discounted rate but cannot absorb 100% of the cost.

I recently brought my Ford F150 under a reasonable expectaion that I would receive my auto back in better condition that I brought it in. A tune up was conducted in late November 2017. The shop informed me that they broke off a part. We agreeded to disagree on the price. When my father drove it off the lot there was a major gas leak. We had it towed to a tires plus. They evaluated the auto to find that the previous shop on her grove Ford failed to connect a gas line. This is a serious saftey concern and Lost a whole tank of gas. In Early Feb, my father was driving and thought the engine was having trouble. He was near a tires plus and they assessed that the prior dealership was neglectful in putting in the spark plugs. The spark plug blew out and damaged my automobile.

To whom it may concern:

Mr. brought his vehicle to Inver Grove Ford Lincoln in November 2017. Prior to this, he had it diagnosed at another service location, but they declined to work on Mr.’s vehicle due to lack of prior maintenance and the risk involved to replace the brittle parts. He was instructed to bring it to a Ford dealership for the first ever spark plug replacement. (Typically spark plugs are replaced on or before a vehicle reaches 100,000 miles. Mr.’s vehicle had over 188,000 when it was at Inver Grove Ford Lincoln). Inver Grove Ford Lincoln upon Mr.’s authorization replaced the spark plugs. Due to the lack of maintenance and age of the original parts, a bolt did break during the repair and was replaced at no charge to Mr.. After Mr. picked up his vehicle from Inver Grove Ford Lincoln, he has contacted the owner and managers of Inver Grove Ford Lincoln on multiple occasions regarding concerns he has from the repair. We have asked repeatedly for Mr. to bring the vehicle back in to allow Inver Grove Ford Lincoln the opportunity to re-inspect the vehicle, at no cost to him, to validate any claims that he is making. As of today, he has yet to allow us the opportunity to re-inspect the vehicle.

There is no evidence to substantiate that the spark plugs were installed incorrectly or neglectfully.

We have researched all that has happened and respectfully disagree with the accusations he is making. We have tried on multiple occasions to reach a resolution with Mr., but again, he never gave us the opportunity to validate his claims by bringing the vehicle back to us. The only resolution he is seeking is monetary and we are not in a position to offer monetary reimbursement when there is no proof of negligence on our part.

Customer Response • Feb 20, 2018

I am rejecting this response because:
Inver Grove Ford has an obligation to stand by there workmanship through there 25mo Warranty. Since there was other suspicious issues while working with them I had the vehicle evaluated and repaired elsewhere. This cost additional expense that was caused by this dealer.

I brought my truck in for a simple repair that should have only taken 2 hours at max. (Change of Spark Plugs). They broke a part while putting everything back together. The lack of communication quickly escalated the issue. The service advisor insulted my intelligence and shifted blame back to the customer. It took over three days to resolve this issue. When I had my father pick up the vehicle it experienced major gas leakage where the repairs took place. This could have killed my father. Thankfully it did not. He is emotionally distraught about the incident. Please do not go to them for any service or sales. If they treat you this badly in service id be cautious on how there other areas handle issues. I personally spoken with Mike Saxon and his informed me to bring it back to his shop to have them take a look at the issue so they can fix it. Why would a reasonable minded person bring it back to a shop that sabotaged my truck. He then refused to make it right.

Inver Grove Ford Lincoln Response

Our response to Customer:11/24/17 You brought the truck in after it was at another shop and they told you to take it to Ford.
We checked it for a misfire and suggested you put plugs in it as the ones in there were original.
We also suggested you replace all the wires and boots.
Upon installing the coil the bolt broke off in the intake manifold.
The vehicle was done on 11/27/17.
With regards to the charges, you were given a credit of $100.00 against the diagnostic and $449.47 repairing the broken bolt in the intake manifold and related parts.
You were extremely harsh on our people and they in good faith gave you two credits you didn’t have coming.
On 11/27/17 you sent your father in to pick up the truck.
11/27/17 late that evening I received an email from you claiming all kinds of things that were basically not true.
11/28/17 You emailed me to call you which I did.
I listened to you go through everything for about five minutes until I could speak.
I said to you at that time “we are a family owned business and we stand behind our work. If there is something we did that we can prove upon inspection that we did wrong, we will take care of it at no cost to you.”
You then said “I have lost faith in your dealership and I am not bringing it back there.”
I said “if that is the way you feel then the conversation is over as we can’t prove there is anything wrong with our service work.
A couple of things to note; the technicians that worked on your vehicle are Ford certified which is equal to or better than ASE certification.
Your plugs are recommended to be changed every 60,000 miles and at 188,000 miles they were original.
You mentioned “I hope you take this matter serious”, I take everything serious.
If you don’t allow us to inspect the vehicle at no cost to you, it is very hard to help you.
You are entitled to your opinion and we to ours.
This is our position at this point and will not be refunding you anything as you didn’t pay for the whole job to begin with.

Customer Response

I am rejecting this response because:

The shift the blame and or take no responsibility for the neglect. We have it notated that from a certified tech that the gas line was not connected after the service from Ford. I expect that my vehicle would be in better condition than what I brought it to them and not a major gas leak in which lost a full tank of gas plus additional expenses to bring it to a repair shop.

A 2008 Dodge Avenger was bought from Ford Dealership in May. They claimed the car passed safety inspections and was good to go despite refusing to show us the CarFax. After taking the car home and jacking it up to change the oil, the car was found to be completely rusted throughout the frame. The entire frame was rusted, the protective cover over the bottom of the engine was ripped away and multiple seals on both the engine and transmission were leaking. The car was brought back into the Ford Dealership, where they very quickly denied us service. They stated that they would not even look at the car because it wasn't a Ford vehicle DESPITE having bought the car from that exact dealership. The car is unsafe to drive, if the engine or frame were to fall off it could cause life threatening injuries not only to the driver but to the general public as well.

Inver Grove Ford Lincoln Response

I would consider some type of good will adjustment towards the repair. Consumer can submit a PAID copy of the repair and I will review it. The car was sold as is. See attached. Car fax reports are available on our website and online to the general public. We have no reason to refuse them to anyone. I understand the customers frustration but this is a 10 year old vehicle with over 100,000 miles on it.
