Review: This is the review I wrote about them on [redacted]
PROFESSIONAL SCAM ARTISTS! If you're shopping around for a mechanic DON'T even think about coming to Intersport. I brought my 2006 Porsche Cayenne S for an oil change. I first showed up at 11 and they said they didn't have any lifts and to come back at 2pm. That was fine, I didn't have an appt set up or anything so I didn't mind that. I came back at 2 and checked in with the front desk. They said it would only be an hour and if I wanted to wait in the lobby that that would be fine. I actually had some errands to run so my husband picked me up and we left. On our way out they told me that it would be a bit longer than an hour because they were just finishing up with the lift but that they'd call us. At 3:45, an hour and 45 minutes later, I still had not heard from them so I called them and the guy on the phone said its still going to be a couple of hours. I tried to explain to him that I was only having an oil change and that it was supposed to be done an hour ago. He said well the guy who is working on it isnt at his desk, so I'll have him call you back in 45 minutes. I explained again I was just in for an oil change and that I wanted a call back sooner. They called back right away and told my husband that there were some other things wrong with the car that needed to be done right away. They told us that the control arms were rotting and the drive shaft was also in bad need of replacement. They said the car was unsafe and that it should have been done a long time ago. They said it would cost over $3,000 to fix both. We decided to go in and talk to them in person. My husband talked to them and they asked him a long list of questions to see if he felt that the car needed it to be done. They asked if the car shook when he drove or if there was rattling or anything and my husband said no, the car drives perfectly. Things weren't adding up, so we quickly googled the price of these parts and found out that all three parts cost less than a thousand bucks. I know that parts online are always significantly cheaper but still it wasn't adding up. Over the next hour while we waited for the oil change to be done (yes it was 4:30 at this point and they hadn't even started the oil change) we called other garages for estimates on replacing two lower control arms and the center of the drive shaft. One place gave us the same price at Intersport and two others gave us prices that were LESS THAN HALF what Intersport was going to charge us. We told them that we were going to think about getting the other work done and at 5:30 they said it would be another 30 minutes for an oil change. At 6pm, 4 hours later the oil change was finally complete. They also changed a fuse and a lightbulb for us.
If you think waiting 4 hours for an oil change with a 6 month old is what makes me give them a bad review...its not. Keep Reading...
My husband took his Cayenne to [redacted] Auto Service in [redacted]. They are the ones that gave us the lowest estimate. They put the car on the lift and first checked the control arms and there WAS NO ROTTING. THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CONTROL ARMS. Three grown men shook the tires to see if they would budge and there was NO MOVEMENT. So then we checked the drive shaft. The guy said that eventually it will have to be done, but you don't need it done today. Your car is completely safe to drive. When you start to feel a little shake in the drive, then bring it in to do the drive shaft.
Intersport tried to scare us into spending $3,000 on work that didn't need to be done. I say scare because I brought the car in to have work done and had our 6 month old in the car. They definitely tried to make it sound like my son and I would get into an accident if my husband didn't have the work done.
Don't even THINK about bringing your car here unless you feel like throwing your money away to a bunch of scam artists. It should be illegal to do what they did to me and I'm sure they're doing to other customers.
It is important to have options and always always get a 2nd opinion. Money doesn't grow on trees and certainly not worth to throw your hard earned money at Intersport. They totally lied about the condition of the vehicle and came up with expenses well over 3,000 dollars. How is it that one place states the car is in dire need of repairs and another states that this is the cleanest Cayenne they have ever seen?
I don't know how in the world the owner [redacted] sleeps at night. This is certainly not the way to do business. I am shocked that they are still in business after 20 years. If they receive 10 customers and one falls for the bait and switch then they have paid their expenses. It is not right and hopefully this review will deter people from bringing their vehicles to Intersport. I regret them even touching my vehicleDesired Settlement: I don't know that I even want some sort of settlement. It took 4 hours to get an oil change. They told me to sit and wait in the lobby. I had our 6 month old son with us. How do they expect me to wait 4 hours for an oil change with a 6 month old! I wish I never let them service my car, so maybe my desired settlement is reimbursement of the oil change. I will never bring my car here again so credit for service in the future won't work.
