Review: I have been communicating with F[redacted] the vice president of operations at ISSA located in Vista, California. I informed him I required additional financing of four installments compared to their two installments currently being offered for the lesser dollar amount of $474.00. Frank does not seem to understand my needs in order to enroll in their Personal Trainer Certifications by March or April 2016. He is trying to up sell me for the higher dollar amount of $664.00. It is to my belief this is bad business practices and no regard for prospects who are low income individuals. I requested he provide me the link to their Revdex.com listing which he avoided then tried to offer me a discount offering two installments on $474. I require four installments on the $474 which he states he is unable to do which I do not believe. I am choosing this institution since they are the only personal trainer institution which are associated with the Department of Education (DOE) which would allow me to go into deferment for my student loans. I offered to provide a down payment of $80 which is slightly under one installment in the amount $166 which is for the higher dollar amount.

I do not want the $664 broken into four installments which the institution is stating this is the only option for four installments. I feel this is bad business practice and not only a matter of ethics but also consideration for low-income individuals and families.

In reviewing your issue, let me

first apologize for the misunderstanding and thank you for the opportunity to

provide your personal training education.

You are correct that ISSA does offer

payment options for our students, including a 2-payment, 3-payment, and a

4-payment plan. However, the 3-payment and 4-payment plan options are not

offered with a discounted price.

For clarification, the

4-payment plan is calculated as follows; the cost for the certification would

be at the full retail price of $599. Additionally, there is a $10/month

plan fee and a shipping fee. $599 + $40 plan fee + $25 shipping =$664. This would equal 4 monthly payments of $166. Mr. M[redacted] is simply

following the guidelines and procedures set forth by our company policy, our

accrediting body and adhering to the Truth in Lending Act.

All that being said,

ISSA understands that you have a like-minded desire to

obtain your personal training education in order to serve the needs of others. It is with

that understanding that we would like to offer you a scholarship for a single

ISSA certification course with our compliments.
