We worked with Amy S ***, Amy's husband made ALL the updates. We are first time buyers and completely got taken advantage of. It felt sketchy from the start - I didn't have a realtor, so Amy who was working with the people selling, decided she was going to be my realtor as well. I'm not sure if that's the way it's supposed to work, but just didn't feel right. She was working for both me and the seller which seems like a conflict of interest.
We've had SO many issues since the day we set foot in our house.
1. The "workshop" room, which was basically a small garage was turned into the kitchen. There is no vent for heating/cooling, so cooking is miserable to say the least. The new floor boards are already popping up, and the pantry door is slanted and won't stay closed. The cabinet doors aren't even and you can't even open one of the doors without hitting trim.
2. The room that used to be the kitchen is now the laundry room, we had to install new outlets that worked with a dryer, even though she assured us the outlets were exactly what we needed.
3. There are cracks EVERYWHERE that I'm assuming her husband created that started from the warped/cheap trim they put up.
4. The paint job is a joke - multicolored and you can tell where holes were made and patched. . Along with gobs of paint in the rooms with carpet.
5. On the side our our house is just a hefty amount of broken glass that I know for a fact wasn't there when the previous owners lived here and we've had a hell of a time trying to get it picked up to make it safe for our animals.
6. The dishwasher and microwave were not installed properly. Samsung had to come fix our microwave and the dishwasher flooded the cabinet under our sink.
7. He did some electrical work in our living room/master room, so now 2 walls of outlets aren't working. (Yes we flipped the breakers and checked for a shortage). So we are going to have to get an electrician out here for the second time.
8. There is a water leak somewhere- now we get to throw a plumber in the mix!
Just feels like a lot of things were swept under the rug to make the sale and it's rough finding out everything now. I realize every house is going to need some maintenance, but as much as we paid and with all the updates, we shouldn't be this stressed finding something new every single day.
