I was taking kickboxing classes at the ilovekickboxing studio in lincoln square. Due to covid-19 pandemic, the studio was closed but they still charged my account. I contacted the staff regarding the matter and requested for a refund, which they refused. What was frustrating is how they handled their business. I felt as though the studio stole money from me while they are shut down. If I'm not able to use the facility, I should not be charged. I was also told by an ilovekickboxing staff via email to freeze my account for a fee of $25/month. That is robbery in my eyes. I asked for a refund and still haven't received it. This is not the way people should do business. If I cannot utilize the facility, I should not have been charged in the first place.
Please be advised that the client has received a refund prior to receiving this complaint. The facility was still open at the time of the payment in question. The client signed a contract for a recurring auto billing. The client had not made any requests to cancel membership prior to the agreed upon auto collected payment processed which requires a 30 day notice. The temporary closure of the facility was after the payment auto processed. At the time of temporary closure, the client received a credit of a full month of membership to the account, as well as provided online streaming classes & on demand access to fitness classes. We empathize with the client and wish them well and send gratitude for the time the client has been a part of our team. The client has used this unprecedented situation to say negative, hurtful and defaming words about the facility and it's trainers out of frustration. We would appreciate the client remove the posts from social media and online. Hope the client is staying active and healthy. ILKB Management
Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.
Sincerely,
Adesuwa
I bought a membership for a year at full price back in September of 2018 for $997, and they actually stated I could receive a few extra months or another year (I can’t recall) for paying upfront. In January of 2019 I called the location to put a hold on my member due to being pregnant and the gym stated they couldn’t do it and I needed to email corporate which I did and they put my membership on hold for the remaining 8 months. Now after having my child in August 2019 I couldn’t get cleared to work out yet so when I attempted to extend my hold by contacting corporate again by email they stated I needed to get in contact with the gym. Now this made no sense to me as I couldn’t even put it on a hold with the gym the first time. When I called the gym that’s when I found it the location was no longer in business as the phone number didn’t work. When I called corporate to see what happened they stated the location closed and when I inquired about my refund they stated I needed to get in contact with the owner in which they gave me his name and email. I’ve attempted a few times by emailing the owner but of course he has not contacted me back. This owner owns me a refund of $664.66 and I have been informed he also owes a whole bunch of other people. He never is even contacted me by phone, email or letter informing me that the location was closing or going out of business.

Michigan Ave Chicago IL, 60605 on October-26-2018. I was registered at another location at *** W. North Ave Chicago, Illinois 60622 before going to south loop location. At that location I was told that they had opened a new location in south loop. I asked if I could transfer to that location while I had 2 months left at North Ave location. The manager said I could & emailed the manager at South loop location named Martina that I can transfer there & not paying for the first 2 months since I already paid for it with my chase card in North Ave location. On Oct-26-2018 I went to the south loop location, talked to Martina & signed a contract that says No.Payment: 2 meaning 2 months. It says the First Payment Due: 11-25-18 however I was charged on 10-30-18. In fact they were not supposed to charge me for the first 2 months but they did. It also says the Total Tuition: $447 however I was charged $894. It also say the Membership Expires: 2-25-19 but I was charged on March-19-19 again. They did not follow what was written in the contract & worse than that they never emailed or texted me that the location was closed since I requested to freeze my account due to hospitalizations & illness and was not able to attend the classes for several months. I need to explain you about putting hold on my account; I had already talked to Martina the ex-manager at South loop location about my illness & how it stops me from attending classes all the time. She told me I could call the gym & inform them if I couldn’t make it to classes for weeks or months if I became sick or hospitalized. ***I have more explanation

Trying to cancel my contract and was not aware there was a 195.00 cancellation fee. The contract they have and the contract I have are different in key areas. I would not of signed the document if I was aware of the high fee. I am a single mom. My money is tight to non-existent. My daughter has anxiety; I and thought this might be helpful. It was not! I feel like I was had. I have copies of my documents and what they say I agreed to. There are differences in the documents.

I purchased a membership with ilovekickboxing for a Year for $99 a month. I paid first and last month membership. I went out of town over the weekend and came back to an empty building. I the company did not sent me any type of correspondence or offer to refund my last month membership I paid. Which would be $99 dollars. I have tried contacting them and other locations and noone seems to have an answer and the coorporate office is not answering. I have left a couple messages and look back in my email and Nothing.

I purchased a *** Deal for Ilovekickboxing.com for last Tuesday 4/9. The deal was for 10 Kickboxing sessions + one personal training session for $39. I attended a session that following Thursday 4/11. When I returned for another session this Monday 4/15, the facility was closed. The doors were locked, the lights were off and I noticed that as signs were taken down. I later found out that this location was closing. I was never notified by the owner, or employer. I did not receive an email or phone call. Because each location is individually owned, I cannot use another location due to the one I selected. I am upset because I paid for a service that cannot be fulfilled and I was never notified that this facility at this location would be closing. This location also continues to be listed as one of several locations that are being advertised on ***. I would like to either be reinbtwhat I paid, or the remaining 9 sessius one personal training session be fulfilled.
I signed up for this locations 6 week challenge. To do so I was required to put a down payment of $499, to which if I succeeded at the goal of losing 6% BF or 25lbs I would either get my money back or I could choose to use that money towards a membership. This agreement was signed and paid for on 12/30/2018
I chose to get a refund. This was communicated to them on March 1st. They asked for me to do a review on *** or ***. I did this and sent them a copy as requested. They then asked for a before/after photos. These were never taken by them nor requested at the beginning. I requested a copy of the signed contract and advised this was not one of the terms.
Their representative, Jeremy, agreed with me and on March 7th was told the refund would be processed. I asked for status on the 14th, to which I was advised again it would be processed. March 22nd I requested that the owner contact me direct. I have not had any communication since. On 4/12 I called the facility direct and left a voice message for the owner requesting a call to discuss this issue. I have still not been contacted, nor have I received my refund.

I bought a *** for 10 classes. I decided on my first visit I didnt want to join the gym I would just take my ten classes. It was explained to me if I was not a member only two non-members are allowed in each class and you must book at least 24 hours in advance. No problem. My first five classes were no issue. When I tried to schedule my sixth class all the classes had been blocked accept six classes two at 7:45pm in the evening during the week. The rest on Friday at 6am, 4pm, 5pm and 6pm. I'm sure these are all the empty classes. The reason I purchased the classes was because of all the different options for taking class now all of a sudden its changed. I feel the guy was not too happy with me not signing up for a membership and he changed the availability of the classes to make it inconvenient and hard for me to get in the remainder of my classes. He kept asking me why I dont want to join. Which really is none of his business. You went over the options and I said no. It should have ended there. To go from around 30 classes to 6 seems fishy.

In December of 2018, I found a online deal for 5 classes to TRY ILOVEKICKBOXING at a local gym near me. I completed the 5 classes on December 4, 2018 and I have NOT been back to that gym since that day. I purchased some items from the club and informed my instructor that I was interested in joining full time. I did not sign a membership and the location is unable to find a signed contract on file for that membership. On March 2 and March 6 of 2019, My card was charged $266.50. I have repeatly sent emails to the email address I was given to receive a refund. Someone would email me back stating that this issue is being looked into, however I have not received any emails back. My credit union informed me to cancel my debit card and file a dispute however my dispute is still in progress.

I saw a video (which I have saved) about a free six week program at I Love Kickboxing Lincoln Sqaure. The video talks about getting classes and nutrition and accountability all for free and all you have to do is sign up. So I calle and signed up for a consultation and went in. I listened to this woman's whole speil and then she tells me it is $499.00! I was like what I don't understand, it is free. She kept telling me "it was essentially free I just have to pay up front". Then she offered me payment options, and even tried to get me to sign up for monthly membership. This is upsetting to me because the video did not say you have to be a member to get the free challenge as they call it, or pay for anything at all. I feel this is false advertising or even a bait and switch. Like I said I have a copy of the video but am not sure how I could get ti to you. I sent the infromation to their coporate office but they did not reply to me. How can it be okay to advertise something as free and then tell the customer they have to give you $499 to participate.
