Review: This contractor has failed consistently to perform duties as outlined in contract. He has performed in an unworkmanlike manner and has failed to complete contract without cause. The contract began on October 24, 2013 and expired on April 29, 2014. He has not returned to the property since April 3, 2014. Mr. [redacted] made phone contact with us via phone on April 14, 2014 with a promise that work was to resume, to no avail. Mr. [redacted] has engaged in fraud and bad faith with respect to said contract. The entire amount of $95,200 has been paid to Mr. [redacted] via personal checks. He hired several subcontractors, all of whom have claimed that he has not paid them for services performed; including the plumber and the electrician. Several attempts have been made to verify receipts for materials and other associated costs; however, Mr. [redacted] was never able to produce the requested items. During the contract period, several items were stolen from the home and the local police were called. We were given an item number and a report was completed and filed. Mr. [redacted] was asked about his home builders' insurance to cover the cost of the stolen items. He has not paid for the loss which totaled $1,590.00. Mr. [redacted] has also received monies in the amount of $10,500.00 that were presumably for unforeseen additional costs incurred for plumbing and electrical procedures performed. According to those parties, the monies were not paid to either of them. Mr. [redacted] has stated on several occasions that he "dropped the ball" on this project and that he will "make it right" by completing the job. He has not fulfilled his obligation as outlined in the contract, nor has he honored his word of reconciliation of this matter. Attached is a file containing some of the preliminary contract(s), checks, etc. Additional information is available upon request.Desired Settlement: I are writing this letter to recover approximately $7,000.00 owed for work left unfinished, items stolen from my home, cost of materials and labor to complete the project, cost for landscaping and fencing, and other monies paid for additional costs requested by Mr. [redacted].
