Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:
I lived in the house for 16 years and never had a problem with the sewer until this inspection was performed. My sewers passed inspection. The house did not have sewer stains. Clayton never offered to have a plumber fix it. He only offered to make another attempt on his own, after the other sewer inspection company refused to get involved. With sewer water leaking into the house, I had no choice but to hire a plumber asap. Regardless of how long the plumbing job took or the cost of the parts, the fact is this repair cost me $500. I hired “The Art of Plumbing.” They are a very reputable company in the Seattle area, and their work is not substandard. They also provided a warranty on the repair. Clayton is not a plumber and therefore cannot comment as to the validity of the parts, workmanship or cost.
I did not hire Clayton to do an inspection, I should not have to pay for repairs he caused. I would not have had this expense otherwise. The offer of $150 is unacceptable. I want to be reimbursed for the full amount of this repair.
Sincerely,[redacted]
Hi [redacted]
I was asked to drive from Olympia up to Ballard for a sewer inspection which I usually only do if there is more than one job but this time was a single job. When I arrived there was another inspection company there that did not want to proceed as the sewer cleanout had a stain on the...
floor under it demonstrating it had leaked in the past. I said I would open it up and reseal it. We both did our inspections and I resealed pipe. My attempt failed as described which is what the other company feared. They refused to help fix it. I spoke with the home owner and I think I actually worked for a buyer on this but said that since it had evidence that it was leaking before I was willing to pay half of a repair bill to install a new fitting for a cap that could seal. That should cost about $300.
The next I hear she paid someone $500 for an hour and a half's worth of work. The picture of the work done showed a job that was substandard and outside the norm for that type of repair. I said I never agreed to pay $250 and if I did I would want a job done right. I restated that I had been willing to pay $150 as the old fitting had been leaking before. I never heard anything else.
Regards,
Clayton
