Review: I moved into my new home on 1/23/15. Michael K[redacted] of Housemaster conducted the inspection. On March 23, it was discovered there was a significant amount of mold in the attic due to poor ventilation, insulation and air flow. Housemaster rated insulation and ventilation satisfactory.
I called Michael K[redacted] to let him know and he said he would stop over. My friend was there and he referred to me as "crazy" and when he saw the mold he said well boxes were covering it. It was on the ceiling as you walk in so boxes wouldn't be covering it, but even so he should be looking and evaluating insulation. There was also mouse urine and feces in the crawl space on the insulation.
I found him to be so lazy throughout the entire process. I just had to pay $5000 to improve insulation and venting and another $2,000 for mold remediation.Desired Settlement: I feel that the Revdex.com should note this occurrence on the Housemaster file and that future customers to be aware of this complaint.

Response:
The above referenced complaint was sent to my attention as I conducted the inspection for [redacted] The original complaint was sent to the franchise corporate offices in Ewing NJ.It is unfortunate that [redacted] has had to deal with some post inspection concerns as outlined in her complaint. The inspection however was performed according to NJ Standards of Practice for home inspectors which do require the inspector to perform mold inspections. The inspection process was thorough and complete as can be seen in the inspection report produced for [redacted] The contract for services and report also outline the scope limitations on the inspector and the process, such as obstructions and accessibility. There were several limitations on this particular inspection that were known and identified. While we strive to identify all potential concerns to the buyer it is not always possible.

I am rejecting this response because:The mold location was high up in the attic and was not obstructed. Also, it was due to poor insulation that the mold occurred, which was ranked as "satisfactory" by the Inspector. What is disappointing was how I was treated after I reported this event. The inspector came when the mold company and family friend was here and he actually said " oh there must have been boxes covering the area." I am notifying the Revdex.com purely to help other consumers because I felt the inspector didn't do a very good job and given that he has been in business a long time, would do something to make amends.
