From August 2-5 2019 a friend and myself spent the weekend at Hotel 89 in Yorkville. The first night of our stay was very emotionally distressing. We were out for the night on night one, we returned to the hotel tried to use our swipe cards to entire out room (710) and was unsuccessful. In a two hour span we made several trips to the front desk complaining our swipe cards did not work. And kept begging issues new ones. The night manager told us several times that we do not know how to use a swipe card. After approximately two hours the night manager accompanied us to our room and attempted to swipe in himself. And he too was unsuccessful. He then informed us that the battery on the door is dead. And the maintenance person won't come it because it's 2am. Jerry went back to work and left my friend and myself just standing in the hallway outside our room. For the next 7 HOURS we pleaded with Jerry to call the manager and a locksmith. He attempted to make a call to who he claimed was the Manger however he would periodically do so without leaving a voice message. My friend got on her phone and called a locksmith 3 times and each time putting Jerry in the phone with them. The locksmith was willing to come out and open the door for us at our own expense however Jerry still refused. While my friend slept on the floor in the hallway outside our room, I stayed in the lobby at the front desk pleading with jerry to do something. ***. Other hotel guests even demanded Jerry call a locksmith but it was all in vain!!! 7 hours with no sleep ***! The day manger came in at 7:30am the next morning. Jerry said to her " these two have a problem" pointing to my friend and myself. The day manger looked over at us ***. Explaining to her the horror of the past 7 hours. She not only turned and glared at Jerry, she had us back in our room by 7:45 am. The day manager asked Jerry why he didn't call a locksmith. I told the day manger we begged him all night to do so and he flat out refused. We told her we would have paid for the locksmith our selves. We unfortunately missed a pre booked and a prepaid appointment that morning. That was scheduled for 7:45 am. Another thing to mention. Both jerry and the kitchen staff both expressed several times that room 710 was a leading giving problems and guests had to be moved into another room, so why then were we placed in that room? Why was this room not deemed unsafe ???? The entire situation was poorly mishandled ! We have emailed Annie Z. who is either the manger or hotel owner however she has not yet responded back! We are asking for a refund on our first night!!!
