Not what they advertise as after 2 years with a 10% risk I am down 5% and it never seems to go up much but always drops big chunks at a time. They just don't seem to be about making us money yet I am paying them 2% to lose 5% for 2 years. At one point in a 10% risk my year to date lose was 11.62 %.

We invested our life savings with Hortor Investment Management and were told that Hortor's main objective was to provide security of our assets albeit we may not fully participate in the upside of the market. We were told we should conservatively expect about a 7-9% ROI. Not participating in the upside of the market became very evident in 2017 when the market was on fire. We saw a growth of about 5% vs 25-30% in the market. When the market turned south, the performance of our portfolio followed the market proving Hortor did not provide the protection we had been told. As a result, we lost over $60k in about 18 months with Hortor. We pulled our investments from Hortor and were charged large custodial and advisor fees adding to our pain. I would highly recommend no one place their funds with Hortor Investment Management LLC.

The purpose of this communication is to inform you of the poor experience with your
company, external advisors, and internal customer service.
My daughter and I trusted and invested in you with promise of growth and stability at the
recommendation of one of your affiliated advisors, and instead we have experienced loss
of retirement, losses from *** Preservation & Growth Funds, and frustration with your
“customer service” department of one person.
You failed us in:
Avoid Unnecessary Risk
Wealth Management
Tax Free Retirement
Financial Planning
Risk Management
We chose to close our accounts due to the *** incident, because safeguards to prevent
this was lacking. The instructions on how to close our accounts were incorrect, from both
advisor and customer service, forms and processes changed to TCA, and subsequent
requests for clarification were met with either indifference, out of office messages, or
when responded to, a demeaning attitude from Horter. I attempted to have my new
brokerage try to communicate with your firm, and they too were met with silence.
To date, I have paid approximately $14621.23 in fees, my daughter $2937.66, in addition
to general fund and *** losses. Your kind of money management should never have been
offered to already limited retirement assets.
This is an extreme financial hardship no one else should experience, and it is our hope
that Horter will seek to retain its integrity and improve the training of affiliates on
fiduciary responsibility and convert your advisors to fee based to eliminate the greed.
While not covering all our loss, it is respectfully requested that Horter Investment
Management, LLC, would act in good faith and refund all our fees between 2015 and close
of accounts 2018, and our losses with ***, for mismanagement of our investments.
