On November 17th I bought a [redacted] with 137,000.00 mile on it for $3500.00 from the owner of Horizon Auto sales, [redacted]. I told him that I was looking for a dependable car to drive my 10 year old to his travel baseball practice and tournaments in the Carolinas. [redacted] said that he buys all of his cars from [redacted] auctions and that they check there cars out thoroughly and won?t sell them unless they check out. He also told me that it was a 1 owner car with all scheduled maintenance done at scheduled intervals and that the timing belt was changed at 105,000.00. [redacted] said that he would drive the car to California with no hesitations. He showed me the service manual with everything written by hand. On November 19th and 300 miles later the car stopped running on our way to a baseball tournament 100 miles from where we live. I had the car towed and it was diagnosed with a bad head gasket and piston rings. The mechanic also found that the timing belt had never been changed. The cost for everything came to over $2000.00. The mechanic also told me that it was obvious that whoever sold me the car was aware that it had these problems when they sold it. [redacted] has ignored my texts and emails. I wouldn?t want to see anyone else go through this same type of nightmare.Product_Or_Service: [redacted]Desired SettlementI would like assistance from Horizon Auto Sales by paying to have the engine of the car they sold me repaired. Cost were above $2000.00Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted] Sales's manager Contact Phone:[redacted]Contact Email: [redacted]to whom it may concern,Mr [redacted] came to our dealership and test drove the [redacted] twice before he made the purchase, we explained to him the all cars sold as is and there is no warranty on used cars however , We offered him the warranty through [redacted] unfortunately he dined it and he says He knows what he is doing and he does need the warranty, when we sold the car to Mr [redacted] , it was in good running condition , Mr [redacted] knows that he singed all the paper work and he knows that the car is sold as is.Consumer Response Car was test driven just 1 time for 3 miles only. all of my aforementioned claims stand as true. The facts that the car that was sold by[redacted] at Horizon was not in good running condition because the engine blew out less than 300 miles after it was bought, and I was lied to about the previous maintenance history that had been done on ha car. This can be verified by the certified mechanic that eventually fixed the car to make it in good running condition. This is a very bad car dealership!
