I am a renter so when my plumbing is in disarray I reley on my landlord to hire somebody who is prompt and professional! Hope plumbing was neither! I made an appointment for the next day with them to fix a blocked pipeI called the next morning to confirm the appoint I just made the following day so I could get off work on timeThe receptionist told me that my landlord had never called them and the phone number that I gave her for the landlord was wrong so I wasnt going to be on the scheduleKeep in mind my landord is the person who made the intial call for services and I had never talked to the lady before or gave her any phone numberSo when I got upset that I wasnt getting the service I was promised the day before hope took the opportunity to get ahold of my landlord and bad mouth me! Never the less they made me wait a week for service and made my landlord mad at meThey replace a brand new pump with a another brand new pump and told my landlord I need a pump when it was brand new! Watch these guys they are very unorganized and rude
My daughter's water heater failed and she contacted Hope Plumbing to replace a 40 gallon electric water heater, located in a closet in a one-story house. When the technician arrived he told her that the water heater was under warranty. He also, provided a "labor only" quote to replace the water heater of $989. I thought that was an outrageous price and I asked the technician what the hourly rate was to justify that price. He said that Hope does not have hourly rates. I agreed to pay that price, because I don't live in Indianapolis and was not in a position to get multiple quotations rapidly. However, I subsequently checked prices with a number of sources and found labor only prices of $325 - $450 to install a 40 gallon electric water heater. I then called Hope to give them an opportunity to explain why they were 2 to 3 times the price of their competitors. After telling me that their call-in notes showed that the water heater was on the 3rd floor (of a one-story house) and that they used a "book" rather than an hourly rate, their representative got huffy and said that I knew the price before I agreed to pay it. I agreed with her. My purpose in calling was not to obtain a reduction in price, but to gain a better understanding of why Hope Plumbing's prices were 2 to 3 times higher than similarly qualified firms. Since I received no explanation, I believe that Hope Plumbing is either very expensive as compared to other plumbers in Indianapolis or that they tried to price very aggressively when dealing with an out-of-town customer that had few alternatives. I would urge any potential Hope Plumbing customer to be extremely careful in dealing with this company and to obtain other quotations. For potential customers of Hope Plumbing, I think the best approach is "Caveat Emptor", let the buyer beware.
