I cancelled my membership on 1/13/2019. Because 30 days' notice is required, my membership should end on 2/12/2019. However, Orangetheory is stating my membership ends on 3/7, which means I have to pay another month's fees of $169 on February 2/7. Instead of pro-rating my fees for the month of February at $42.28, Orangetheory is charging me another month's fees at $169, which means they are over charging me by $126.72. Orangetheory's cancellation policy is punitive in nature and designed to deter consumers from terminating their memberships. Additionally, if Orangetheory provided me with notice of its policy, it was inconspicuous.
Hello ***!
We appreciate you reaching out and expressing your concerns. Our team always aims to effectively explain membership policies to our members!
We do have a thirty day notice, which essentially states you have to notify us in written form (for your account confidentiality.) with a 30-day notice cancellation form. This cancellation policy is easiest explained by coming into the studio before your monthly bill date to sign a cancellation form which will indicate your next final payment.
I attached your signed membership cancellation form which explains this policy further on the back. Your bill date is on the 7th of each month, since you came in past the 1/7/2019 bill date, your 30 day notice put your final EFT date at 2/7/2019 and an active member with us until 03/06/2019 with no future monthly charges to hit your account.
