Review: This place has a man that goes by the name of [redacted]' that is a department manager of some sort - or he was at the time of our transaction anyway... Well, he 'helped' my 81 year old parents price out a deck package. My parents didn't want to bother me by asking for help, but once I got wind of their project I decided I should be involved - I have extensive experience in the field. Good thing I did too. This clown had over-encumbered their package with all sorts of incorrect items, wrong sizes, wrong amounts, wrong materials etc - it couldn't have been much further off. Before I got involved, the cost for my parents deck package was at $6500+, when I was done correcting it and straightening it out, the cost for their deck package was just over $5300 and everything was the correct size, the correct number and better materials. That guy was really 'giving the business' to my poor parents, taking advantage of a couple of 80 year old's - he should be ashamed of himself. Here it is a year later and we have over $600 worth of unwanted incorrect Railcap in a box in my garage, 2 boxes of incorrect mounting system assemblies that were never even needed with the new Railcap, no Railcap on my parents new Trex deck Iron Railing (for over a year now) - and some very unhappy ex-customers of Homewood. I tried to contact the General Manager [redacted] (at the time) and he would not speak to me and would not return my phone calls. I called for the owner and left him several messages and he refused to contact me back as well. All we wanted to do was return the unopened unused incorrect Railcap for a refund. $600+ goes a long way for a pair of 81 year old's on a fixed income, but they wouldn't even contact us back. Too bad too - we have to redo their back deck this fall and its twice the size of this one.... A WORD TO THE WISE -- IF YOU ARE SMART - YOU WILL NOT DO ANY BUSINESS WITH HOMEWOOD LUMBER!Desired Settlement: At this point my parents are used to the rail with no Railcap on it. So we would be happy to just receive a full refund for the Railcap and the brackets. We never wanted any more than we were due. They have to eat the 'shipping costs'. If we were given the correct info from [redacted] about the type of material the replacement Railcap was made out of (painted aluminum instead of the same rubber-like material the original ordered Railcap was), we would not have ordered it.
