Review: We hired HomeScope Inspections in December of 2013 to inspect our town home before purchasing. According to HomeScope, the town home passed inspection and my husband and I agreed to purchase the home. Shortly after moving into the home in January of 2014, my husband discovered that one of the trusses was cracked/broken. We contacted both our realtor and HomeScope. After exchanging some emails requesting a full refund of our $450 inspection fee, HomeScope did return to our home to inspect the cracked/broken truss. I was present for this second inspection. HomeScope did see the broken truss on this second inspection. HomeScope tried to explain that things can be missed in a home inspection. HomeScope also admitted to not getting on a ladder in the basement to look at trusses. After lots of respectful and civil back and forth discussion, HomeScope agreed to refund half of the $450 inspection fee. In late April we were finally mailed a release form, which we signed and notarized. We then mailed/returned this form to HomeScope. As of today, 20 August 2014, we have yet to receive our $225 check. HomeScope has not responded to our recent emails inquiring why we have not yet received this refund.Desired Settlement: Due to the fact that this truss was an expensive repair that should have been noticed during the initial home inspection, coupled with the fact that our agreed upon refund has taken more than four months to be settled, my husband and I expect a full refund of the $450 initial home inspection fee.
