I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. He has not posed any resolution of this matter, he continues to defend his position in the same way he did when I dealt with him face to face, the last time I was in his store.
First of all, I'm clearly not a "young lady", I am 60 years old. I did explain to him fully what was wrong with the toilet and asked for his opinion, but accepted the fact he couldn't guarantee the fix. I wouldn't expect that from anyone, sight unseen, but this is not the point at all. He did not "almost take it back". It was clearly opened at the top and I sealed it with a piece of cellophane tape as best I could. I still have the package I tried to take back if anyone would care to verify my statements. I never hid the fact it had been opened, as he accuses. I even told him I would never lie about installing the part. I was unaware an opened part could not be returned. I do not walk into a store and read all of the signs posted, besides this is not the point, AGAIN. I accept the fact he cannot take back opened parts. But, I contacted the manufacturerer about my situation, and they offered to send me a BRAND NEW UNOPENED PART so I could take it back to him for a refund, since this whole business was not my fault, but theirs. This time, when I tried to take it back, his excuse was...."I already restocked the part" and can't give you a refund. He always has an excuse why he can't do the right thing. That's why I've asked you to intervene. Thank you for your time and effort with this guy.

Hi [redacted];
I'm [redacted] with Homeowners Plumbing. The young lady brought in a broken flush mate cartridge, (2) parts. It was broken. I put a new one on the counter, in a sealed OEM bag. She said she was having problems with her toilet . I said I could not guarantee it would fix the...
problem, not knowing what that was, she did not say. A week or so later,she returned and said I'd like to return this. I almost took it back! (A week and a half later!) I looked closer at the bottom and one corner was open? She must have used a food sealer for plastic bags or something. I asked her if she had installed this, and she said yes. ( I tried to reseal it as best I could ). She wasn't even going to tell me she had installed it. Attached is a photo of the signs behind the counter. Taken from where she stood. I knowingly cannot sell USED parts to a customer . If you came into my store and needed the same part she brought back, and I said to you. Hear you go, it's only been installed once !!. Would you buy it ?? I think NOT! Why did I (NOT) tell this customer, this part was Recalled by the manufacturer . Well I'm not in the, Auto industry! Manufactures , Don't put out Recalls in the plumbing industry. Sorry! Thanks [redacted]. When you post her complaint, Please be sure to post my response underneath . And have a great day.
