Hoffman plumbing

It all started with a notification from the water department, informing me of a very high water usage. I called American Leak Detection Company, they came to my property the next day and injected gas into the water lines and searched the property for a leak. One reading was found behind my garage in the backyard. (I have one and a quarter acres of property.)I asked the company if they could recommend a plumber and they gave me the name of Hoffman Plumbing. I called that plumbing company and I told them what the Leak Detection Company had found and they said they would send someone out the next day. The plumber showed up the following day and I showed them the spot that had been detected. He then dug a small 2 feet hole and said there were no leaks down there. Approximately 20ft from the hole, I have one of the no freeze hydrants that I dug up to check the bleeder to see if it was leaking it was not. Also next to that, is the shut off valve for the water that supplies my guesthouse. I found no leaks there. He then wanted to dig a little deeper to see if there was a water line running across the yard anywhere near the hole he had dug. He found a ¾ inch pipe that was running to the rear of my property, thinking that maybe this is where the leak would be coming from at back of the property. Because in the late 70’s, the water lines used to run along the back of the property, sometime in the 80’s main water lines were moved to the front of the property. He then cut the steel line, capped the line at the hydrant and turned the water back on. It turns out the line he cut was the feed line for the hydrant and the guest house. Because he had to get to a job that was already scheduled, he wanted to splice the line back together so my friend in the guest house would have water until he could come back and repair the line.
