Hired Me Hobbs to do major renovating on my home. Mr Hobbs left the project without completing. After I paid over $5000 extra from the initial contract. The work was to be done in 5 to 6 weeks. It has been 4 months and the work remains un-done
February 27, 2020To whom it may concern,We received a complaint from *** through the Revdex.com last week. In her complaint, she claimsher work is not completed as of 2/19/2020. This statement is incorrect. We had a partnership with***'s son-in-law, *** A. ***, who signed a termination agreement on 2/21/2020 due to beingunreliable, dishonest, and untrustworthy. *** offered to finish the last three days of work at ***'shouse (which included odds & ends/touchups} at the end of January 2020, so I could begin our nextcontract for another customer. As a partnership, we often overlapped work in this manner in order toavoid large gaps between contracts. It was brought to my attention that *** did not return to finishthe work as agreed for two weeks after he offered to do so.When *** did return to finish as he promised, *** proceeded to send harassing text messages to mywife and I, as she often would. She would harshly demand the work to be finished ASAP, send herhusband to our home to investigate why things weren't done on her time. After we would speak to herhusband, he would be very understanding and everything would be fine. The cycle would continue, however, as soon as any issue arose between us and ***.In response to ***'s claim that her work took longerthan agreed, there was no official timelineestablished in her contract as we understand many factors contribute to these timelines. Unexpectedissues often arise during large remodel jobs such as this one.*** filed this negative claim against our business on 2/19/2020, stating the work is not done, however, she posted on social media (Facebook) on 2/16/2020 the following in exact words:"Four months of construction...thank God for my son-in-law finishing up...if anyone wants a handymanthat is efficient, great with time management and clean, call Jake ***!"Therefore, her work is in fact completed as she stated. The first phase of ***'s job was invoiced and paid for by her and her husband under our signedcontract through Hobbs Handyman Service. Hobbs Handyman Service was completely dissolved in orderto form our partnership in the name of Hobbs & *** LLC on 1/14/2020.The first phase of her job was completed under our previous company name of Hobbs HandymanService (sole proprietorship). The second phase of this job, which her complaint is attached to, was notunder a signed contract and was done under our new platform of Hobbs & *** Contracting LLC. Acontract is signed under our own discretion, and because *** is family, we didn't feel it was necessaryto draw up a new contract for the rest of her job.*** was in complete understanding that the first phase ended up costing more, due to issues thatarose and much more material was needed unexpectedly. We informed her every step of the way aboutthese issues and what to expect. Our estimates and contracts clearly state the cost of a job may vary dueto several factors and that an estimate is purely our best educated statement of the cost of work to becompleted. Our decision to let Jake go from our partnership due to his routine negligence, sparked *** toretaliate publicly against my family and I. After filing a complaint with the Revdex.com, she chose to publiclyspew incorrect information about me and my business on social media on 2/23/2020. This was broughtto my attention by a family friend. Her post stated my full name, publicly, and she continued to harassand slander me personally as well as our business name.Due to this slander, harassment and inappropriate behavior, I have chosen not to return to her home forany reason whatsoever. I, as a man of integrity and intelligence, have the right to refrain from enteringan environment in which I feel unsafe. There was a factory defect in the countertop I installed in herkitchen. I had agreed (verbally, without a contract) to buy a new countertop out of my own pocket andinstall it when it arrived. This was the only portion of the work left incomplete due to unforseencircumstances that I was not able to control. Even so, I had agreed to replace it but at this time I will notbe in a hostile environment,The amount billed for the second phase of ***'s job was actually 50% less than what it should havebeen. *** is family and I chose to "eat" this loss of profit to help them financially. She is unaware ofthis because it was out of my good character to keep this to myself. To address ***'s complaint of my "unprofessional behavior," I whole-heartedly stand by my quality ofwork, customer care, and integrity. I only express professionalism and honesty regarding my business.I would greatly appreciate this complaint by *** to be retracted, as it is false.Thank you for your time. Many Blessings,Nelson Hobbs
Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
I DO NOT accept the response.. he blames everyone else but himself. My home is not done.. I have had to hire another contractor to finish and repair what he has done and not done. I am in the hole about 7000 dollars because of his crappy work . This needs to be on record.
