HnR roofing & fence

I contracted HnR Roofing on Aug 16, 2017. They were to complete the work within a week. Shortly after, Windsor experienced a lot of flooding and he told me he was delayed due to contract work on flooded basements etc. Then he was getting married, then it was winter.

This was extremely disappointing as I took money from my retirement RSPs in order to complete the work in 2017. I really wanted to wait until 2018, but my neighbors had gone ahead without me. He knew I was stretching it to pay this amount, but I removed the entire amount and provided him $2500. by e-transfer to cover the material and delivery costs.

As winter came to an end he promised to do it as soon as it warmed up. He told me I was scheduled for June 15/18, but that too came and went. Then he was going to try in August but was working on roofing in Toronto. He also commented that it was just a one day job. I said great; but no show in August. Then he promised to complete it between September 3 and 6, 2018. Again, no show. I left several messages by voice and text and did not receive an answer. I told him that I would give him until Oct 17/18, then I would file a complaint. He texted "Sorry, I just got back from Cuba". I said great, as I didn't want it to get ugly, I just need my roof done. But nothing.

On Oct 16/18, I sent him a message to just return my money ($2500.) by e-transfer (same as I sent it to him), as it was clear he had no intention of doing the work. But no response to that either. So now I have no roof, and am out the $2500. which cost me money to remove from my RSPs, and also at tax time.

He completed many roofs in my area and did nice work.
