The patient had an injury with what is known as "third party liabiilty" coverage, i.ethe liability rests with the home improvement store HOASC is fully within its rights to pursue payment from the home improvement store and/or the patient for the bill we sent We are under no
obligation to bill *** in this case, and it fact, *** would have pursued subrogration (payment from the home improvement store) The patient was informed of this fact from day one as our detailed notes indicate.We have any number of documented notes in our system that the patient was offered a 20% discount (5/5/14) and a payment of $per month (2/2/16) which she stated "she would dsicuss with her husband and get back to us." Our notes show that she never did get back to us.Since she indicated that the home improvement store paid her for the medical expenses (4/1/14) we fail to understand the nature of her compaint Since she did not actually pay our bill, under what basis has she kept the settlement from the home improvement store for our bill?Since the home improvement store paid the patient directly for our bill, we expect to be paid from the patient We will contact the patient and again offer her a 20% discount, but I am at a loss as to why, the home improvement store having paid her for our bill on 4/4/14, and her fiailure to get back to us after we offerred her a payment plan, that we should again offer payment plan terms We are now months past the date where she was paid by the home improvement store's insurance company, and months past the date where she was offered the 20% discount
