Do not hire this business. They are extremely difficult to get a hold of after they consider the job complete, the labourers were very nice (Dave in particular) but they will argue with you. The workmanship is also questionable, they had difficulty laying a laminate floor and installing an exterior door, for instance. Additionally, it took over 2 years to completely resolve our dispute, even resorted to seeking legal assistance.
I am sorry the client was not satisfied. We try very hard to ensure all clients are happy. We stand behind our workmanship. This client was very budget conscious and selected or required the absolute cheapest of materials. A laminate floor supplied by the client and installed by us was a poor quality product. Once installed it failed . We attended on 2 occasions to attempt product repairs but were unsuccessful in that it would fail in another location. Ultimately the product was removed and replaced ( supplier supplied replacement product free of charge) we installed at a minimal charge far below cost. The client lives on the coast and experiences extreme weather conditions. An exterior door leaks at the weatherstripping with severe wind driven rain. We replaced the weather stripping once under warranty at no cost and installed a storm door supplied by the client at no charge. The problem has been addressed.
I am glad that Stephen O of Hindon Construction responded to my review in this manner, this will allow you to see what type of person you would be working with. We selected materials based on his advice, we are not flooring specialists or contractors. However, we spoke with both the supplier (*** who was excellent throughout this entire process, and gave us free of charge the new flooring) as well as the manufacturer themselves to see if there had been any recalls or defects with the product. It had never been returned before. Additionally, we had another exterior door installed by a different contractor a few years ago and it does not leak, which leads me to believe that the workmanship is questionable at best. It has nothing to do with the “ extreme weather conditions”.
And to respond to the “very budget conscious” remark, any responsible homeowner seeking a renovation of addition of this size should be budget conscious. Hire this contractor at your own risk. I have advised my friends to not hire this contractor and I would strongly advise against anyone hiring this business.
